With all due respect, why not take look at addressing the problem from the source … authors that abuse the HSN site with total disregard for anyone except themselves. To be more direct … the writers who submit multiple stories at one time have absolutely no respect for the HSN site, or all the other writers who submit stories. And, if it’s even possible to add insult to injury, quite often their stories are extremely short (one page), not very well written and often hard to read because of bizarre spacing, poor grammar, punctuation issues … etc.
Solution: First, you can’t easily fix stupidity. It never ceases to amaze me the lack of respect for a system, and other people, that a lot of people flagrantly display. So what can be done. How about a new house rule. A writer may only submit one story a week. Period. End of conversation.
Ok, maybe not entirely the end. What about all those one page literary masterpieces? Yeah, I know. It’s not a perfect world. Never has been. Never will be. However, if any of the more ‘inexperienced’ writers actually cared about writing more interesting and easier to read stories … all they would need to do is read a few time tested stories submitted by other popular authors, and learn. Yeah … that’s not going to happen.
Final note. In all seriousness, I have the utmost respect for so many of the talented writers on this site, as well as its predecessor site. Like Rayzor, Ginger, and a few others, I have written stories for both sites … for quite a few years (my other pen name was Fantasy Girl). My point is … things have changed since the turn of the century. Particularly as it pertains to computers and cell phones. Now everyone can be heard, instantaneously. All around the world. And, I would offer that while many of these changes are positive, there is always a downside. Such as stupidity and insensitivity to the world around you.
Good luck trying to fix that.
