Her Fate is Sealed

By Shorngirl

I couldn’t believe it was over. Eight years of what I thought was a happy marriage. I remember watching as a couple of moving vans pulled away with half of everything that once filled our… my house. What a disaster.

Michael was a loser for doing this, and I would never let him back into my life. I couldn’t imagine that he might have been seeing someone else, but those were the words he used to weasel out of his commitment to me.

“I’m in love with another woman.” The acrid phrase burned in my heart when he uttered it; it still did. I had arranged to stay with my mother for a few days in an attempt to get a handle on it. The day I returned, I found half of our furniture and loads of boxes sitting in the driveway, slowly being loaded into a large truck.

Nothing he had taken had been mine. At least there was that. No, everything I had brought into the marriage remained inside the large colonial house. At least that was mine. My lawyer had seen to it that the home remained in my name as it had been from the beginning. Now, he had no recourse but to allow me to have it.

The place seemed empty. I hated coming home from the office to a dark house, and the silence of being alone; the only sound, those I made myself.

So, I made a point of going out frequently. It had been a month since ‘he’ left. I did have friends after all, friends from work and those I’d had kept from my younger years. It was the only way I could quell the deep hurt that still lingered in my chest.

One thing I hated, however, was being hit on. No matter where we went or who I was with, guys just seemed to gravitate toward me. Perhaps it was my long blonde hair, or my face, which I’d always thought was just average. Whatever it was, they were relentless.

One evening, there was a new girl, who had come in with one of my old school friends. For whatever reason, Audrey and I seemed to hit it off. Perhaps it was the way she seemed to fend off the unwanted advances with an aggressiveness that bordered on hostility. We did seem to have an awful lot to talk about.

Soon, Audrey was a regular among my group of friends, and we grew to be close. I knew that Audrey was gay but didn’t mind the chummy way the handsome woman sidled up to me while we were out.

Audrey was a striking woman, with jet black hair, cut into a disheveled crop, just long enough to fall forward onto her forehead. Her eyes were bright blue, and in combination with her hair, made for a wildly dangerous visage.

I had always managed to keep my drinking to a manageable level, but for some reason, one Friday night, I let things get out of control. I’d shaken off the depression over my ex, so there wasn’t really an excuse for my excesses that night.

Too drunk to drive safely, and with Audrey lifting the keys from my purse, I had no choice but to rely on her to get her home. “I can’t believe how much I drank. Sorry.” I slurred.

Audrey grinned, taking me by the elbow, and leading me out of the bar. “Don’t worry about it, Cher. I’ve got you.”

For some reason, I wasn’t upset over Audrey’s use of the foreshortened version of my name. All through school and college, I’d hated it. Now, for some reason, it seemed completely natural, especially coming from Audrey. In fact, it would sound odd for her to refer to me as ‘Cherie’.

The last thing I remembered was being piled into my car and feeling ill almost immediately, as we pulled away from the curb. I honestly couldn’t remember whether I’d thrown up, and I definitely didn’t remember how I ended up on Audrey’s couch.

My head spun and pounded mercilessly as I vainly attempted to get up, so I simply fell back into the overstuffed sofa. “Oh, shit,” I murmured.

Audrey suddenly appeared from behind me, carrying a glass of something fizzy. “Back from the dead?” She mused, as I struggled to track her with my addled vision. She could have put me in her bed, hell, she probably had wanted to, but I was certain her scruples prevented it. Instead, she must have carried me up the stairs to her apartment and set me up in the living room. “Alka-Seltzer.” Audrey announced.

I eyed the bubbly liquid suspiciously, making no effort to drink it. “I don’t know if I can,” the nausea creeping up the back of my throat.

“Just down it quickly. It works wonders for a hangover. I know, from personal experience.” Audrey shared, watching as I quickly followed her instructions. “Good.” She watched for a moment, pushing the bucket closer to my bare feet, in case it didn’t stay down.

It then occurred to me that I had no idea what state of dress I was in beneath the comforter I was wrapped in. As it fell down around my middle, and my boobs popped into view, I had a better idea. I quickly scooped the cover back up, my face heated with embarrassment.

“Sorry, but you puked on your clothes. I suppose it was better than on that fancy leather upholstery.” Audrey mused. “You still have your panties on, if it’s any consolation.”

My hand ran down to find my sex covered by the gauzy material. Then I realized that Audrey must have undressed me. “Where are my clothes?”

“I threw them in the wash last night. Hope you don’t mind.” I think she was beginning to get annoyed.

“Thank you, and I’m sorry you had to… do all that.” I managed, the Alka-Seltzer threatening to repeat on me.

“Hey, it’s not every day I get to undress a girl as hot as you.” Audrey laughed, disappearing back down the hall and leaving me to digest what she’d said. “I’m running down to get your stuff. If you puke, use the bucket.” She said, her voice fading with the distance.

Over the next few months, Audrey and I grew even closer. I think it was assumed that we were dating, even though nothing had happened on that front, yet. I never would have imagined being attracted to another woman, but Audrey was different. Almost masculine in her mannerisms and appearance, she was the consummate butch.

So, as feminine as I appeared, and acted, we went together like peas and carrots. The old saying that opposites attract seemed to hold true, at least in this instance. As strange as it may have seemed, Audrey never made a move, romantically. I think she was waiting for me.

Finally, I said something over lunch at a local pizza joint. “Are you ever going to ask me out?”

Audrey almost choked on the mouthful of beer she’d just swallowed but managed not to. “Um… I thought you were straight.”

“Well, I used to think so, too. Lately, I’ve been considering my options.” I smiled, hoping to entice a reaction.

“You have. Well, I don’t date straight women.” Audrey returned, resolutely.

         “I find you very… attractive,” I managed. “ …in a lot of different ways.”

“The fact that you may well be the most beautiful woman I know, is making this really difficult.” She sighed.

“Why not make it easy for yourself and take me at my word.” I chortled. “What have you got to lose?”

“Well, you for starters. If we go out, and things don’t work out between us, then I couldn’t see us staying friends. It would be… weird.” Audrey pointed out, and it was hard to argue with her logic. “Besides, Cher, you don’t know anything about me, that way. You might not like how I am with you.”

“I guess we’ll never know, will we?” I mewled.

“I’m a dominant, Cherie. Do you know what that is?” She asked, her left brow arching, almost irresistibly.

I was right about her using my full name, it sounded strange. “Dominant, as in… like, Fifty Shades of Grey?” I said, utterly naïve.

“Actually, it’s nothing like that, in reality. That book was a farce.” Audrey grumbled; her annoyance apparent.

“So, if I dated you, I would have to be… submissive?” Something deep in my loins stirred with the notion of Audrey having her way with me.

“Look, when we’re done here, I want to go back to my place. If you’re really serious about this… well, we’ll see.” Audrey’s attitude shifted after that, and so did the way she acted toward me. I sensed a slight condescension after that, as though I’d lessened myself by even being interested in her, sexually.

When we got back to her apartment, she led me upstairs, just as she had many times before, but I got the feeling things were very different. She sat down on the sofa but insisted that I sit on the carpet at her feet. I did as she asked, legs crossed and looking up at her.

“How does that make you feel, Cher?” She asked, looking down at me.

“Um… lower, I guess,” I said, not knowing what else to say, but knowing there was more. “Aroused.”

“Does it excite you? Do you feel… a little like you’ve been put in your place.” Audrey asked, haltingly. She smiled down at me, and there was this connection, suddenly.

“Yes. I feel that.” I wasn’t lying. She reached out and took my chin in her hand, pulling me forward. I knew what was coming, but nothing could have prepared me for how that first kiss felt, or how I swooned into her moist lips. Her tongue probed against me, and I opened my mouth, allowing her to explore as our tongues twisted erotically.

I couldn’t believe I was kissing another woman, but what was even more shocking was how much I loved it. After a few moments, Audrey pulled back, firmly holding onto my chin. “Did you enjoy that?” She asked, in a sultry way.

“Oh, God yes,” I exclaimed, my voice hoarse with passion.

“Then perhaps I’m ready to believe you, Cher,” Audrey said, assertively. “Do something for me.”

“Whatever you like.” I giggled, imagining what she might have in store.

“Don’t make promises you may not want to honor,” Audrey warned, sitting forward and releasing my chin. “Take off your clothes.”

The demand caught me a little off guard, but I suppose it shouldn’t have. “Um… Okay.” I stood up and under her hooded scrutiny, I began to undress. By the time I was naked, my clothes scattered about me on the floor, the exercise had begun to have the desired effect. As my panties fell down around my ankles, my fingers grazed between my lips, and the moisture caught there was unmistakable.

“You’re wet, aren’t you?” Audrey asked.

“You could find that out for yourself.” I returned, ignoring her question.

“I very well may, but do answer the question, Cher.” Audrey’s tone was a little more brackish, so I quickly complied.

“Yes, I’m wet.” I know I must have been blushing, but she showed no sign of amusement. I looked down at my closely trimmed bush, a trail of glistening beads evident where my finger had trailed through it.

“Tell me, Cher. Are you uncomfortable being utterly naked, while I’m completely dressed?” She leaned forward, her face only inches from my center. Surely, she could smell my scent, and that alone had me feeling vulnerable.

“A little, but it isn’t unpleasant.” I managed, as her hand slipped between my thighs, moving upward until her fingers met my sex, confirming her suspicions.

The electricity in the room was so intense, I swore that I might literally burst into flames. As her fingers entered me, my knees buckled. She quickly stood, wrapping an arm behind the small of my back, supporting me as she gently but insistently brought me to orgasm.

It was a shattering crescendo that had me wailing within her arms by the end of it, and I couldn’t help but feel embarrassed when she finally let me go. “That was wonderful, Cher. Now, I wonder if you might do the same for me?” Audrey slid her jeans over her slender hips, revealing a sparse thatch of jet-black curls. She sat back on the sofa and spread her legs, her labia parting seductively for me.

I knelt and crawled toward her, wondering if she meant I should please her with my fingers or my mouth. As I slid my hand up her thigh, she grasped it and moved it aside. I had my answer. I could smell her heady scent, and I wondered if I shouldn’t be more reluctant. Having never tasted a woman before, and being freshly satiated, I was pleased to find I was eager to please.

As I nuzzled into her, my tongue sliding effortlessly through her valley, I could feel my arousal returning. I concentrated my efforts on her rigid clitoris, which was throbbing as I licked and sucked. Audrey was not immune to my ministrations, allowing herself to moan under her breath.

Finally, in a hurried race to ecstasy, she grabbed my head with both hands and pressed my mouth into her. Audrey gasped, thrusting her hips upward until she came as loud and as hard as I had a few moments before.

After she had basked in the afterglow for a few moments, she took my chin in her hand once again, its surface slick with her juice. “You’ve never done that before?” Audrey asked, puzzled.

         “First time.” I mused.

“Well, if there’s such a thing as being a natural, you’re it.” Audrey stood and retrieved a bottle of water from a small refrigerator under the inset bar. “I thought for sure you’d balk when I made you go down on me after you’d come.”

“I guess I’m full of surprises.” Gushing, I fell into her.

Things went on like this for a while. I was becoming increasingly submissive, while Audrey exerted her dominance more and more. She was never one for whipping or spanking, or anything that could be considered bondage. Her idea of tying me up was holding my wrists with her hands while she pounded me with one of her strap-ons. No, her idea of dominance and submission was far more subtle. It was humiliation by degrees.

I’d moved into Audrey’s apartment, listing my house for sale at her instruction. It felt odd to be so easily controlled, but we were both good at playing our part. It sold in a matter of days. I still held control over those aspects of my finances, but the wedge was in and working. Although I was still reporting to my job, that income was direct-deposited into Audrey’s account. I could see that it was only a matter of time before she took control of everything.

I was losing any sense of inhibition as well, willing to be more and more public in my submission to her. When we were out, it was obvious that I was hers, and she made sure everyone around us knew I was owned.

Much to our disappointment, the continued attention I would still get from interested men, persisted. Despite Audrey’s warnings about my being spoken for, some of them just didn’t get the message. One Friday night, it very nearly came to blows.

I was awakened the following morning with a cup of coffee being thrust into my face. This surprised me, as I normally did all the housework and cooking. I was the one who would gently nudge Audrey awake, the scent of breakfast cooking in the kitchen.

“Get up, and wake up, Cher. We’ve got things to do today.” Audrey bristled. “I’ve laid out some clothes for you to wear. Drink that and be quick about it.” She turned and walked out of the bedroom, and I wondered if I was in some sort of trouble.

I quickly donned the well-worn jeans and t-shirt, slipping on a pair of all-stars that I rarely wore over my bare feet. She hadn’t laid out any underwear, so I went commando. “Is everything alright?” I asked as I swallowed the last of the coffee.

When she turned, her eyes glistened with intensity. “I’m done with the guys hitting on you.” Audrey blurted.

“God, me too. If there was anything I could do to get them to stop, I would.” I said, truthfully.

“That’s good.” And that was all she said, as she hurried me out to my car. Audrey had recently taken my car, and even though I missed driving my little ‘Beemer’, I was hardly in a position to argue. My driving privileges revoked, she would drop me at the office each morning, and pick me up each night. It was these small humiliations that slowly changed my life.

She seemed really determined as she drove that morning, and I wondered just what she had in mind. About ten minutes later, I stopped wondering. We pulled up in front of David’s Barbershop. “Didn’t you just get your hair cut last week?”

“I did. This isn’t about me. This is all about you, Cher.” Audrey exclaimed as she shut off the car.

“You can’t be serious. I could never get my hair styled in there, Audrey. It’s a barbershop.” I ran a hand down my waist-length curls, the blonde strands sliding effortlessly through my fingers.

“You said you’d do anything to get the assholes to stop bothering you.” Audrey reminded me.

“Yes, but…. my hair. Really?” I pleaded. “I thought you loved my hair.”

“You, I love; your hair, not so much.” Audrey caught me so off guard with her statement that I was out of the car and walking toward David’s before I realized what was happening. She had never come right out and said she loved me, and as side-handed as this was, it was an admission.

“Did you just say you love me?” I stopped just shy of the door.

Audrey frowned, as if she regretted having said it. “I may have let it slip, but now is hardly the time.”

I followed her inside, taken aback by the number of people lounging in the old wooden chairs lined against the wall. Three swivel chairs were occupied by two men and a young boy, all in the process of having their hair clipped. Audrey pulled a number off the rack and indicated the only two chairs remaining towards the rear of the old shop.

“Hey Aud. That cut not close enough for you?” One of the three barbers called out as we made our way past.

“No, it’s just fine. We’re here for Cher, here.” Audrey announced, catching the attention of almost every guy in the place, including the other two barbers. I could just imagine them looking at my flowing blonde hair and wondering why on earth I’d be cutting it.

“You know we don’t do long hair in here, Audrey.” The older man warned.

“That won’t be a problem.” Confirming what everyone was already thinking.

He just shook his head, looking me up and down and settling on my hair. “Okay…” He scratched his thinning pate and smiled. “We’ll be with you in a bit.”

And so, I watched as one haircut after the next unfolded before my eyes. Every time I looked over at Audrey, I could feel her resolve slipping. Finally, she looked over at me and shook her head. “We don’t have to do this, Cher. I was upset, and this was a knee-jerk reaction. Do you want to leave?”

I think the fact that I was no longer being forced, changed my perspective. Suddenly, the idea of having my long-cherished mane pared down, seemed almost appealing. “No, I think the sacrifice is worth it, especially if it stops the damned flirting.”

“Are you sure, because I can keep fighting them off.” Audrey blustered.

“Maybe it’s time for a change, anyway.” I flipped my hair over my shoulder for perhaps the last time as the barber called out the number I held in my sweaty fingers.

He gave me a knowing smile as I climbed into the chair, which quickly swallowed me; my slight frame dwarfed by its leather and chrome architecture. He gestured for me to hold up my hair, while he wrapped a length of crepe paper, which tickled under my chin. The cape he held over his arm was swept around my shoulders and fastened with a metal clip, which was almost too tight around my slender neck.

I let go of my hair, which fell heavily over the cape. He raised an eyebrow and looked over to Audrey, who simply shrugged her shoulders, pointing back at me. If this was going to happen it was going to be my doing, and cut the way I wanted it cut. “What’ll it be, Miss?” The barber asked.

“I want it short. Certainly shorter than Audrey’s, and well off the collar too, please.” I demanded, noticing how the men that were left in the shop were doing their best to watch inconspicuously over the top of their magazines.

“It’s a lot of hair, Miss. Did you want to keep it?” He asked, earnestly.

“To be honest, it’s caused me nothing but grief. Just chop it off. Maybe the floor is the best place for it.” I said, not quite believing the resolve I was suddenly showing. One of the men closest to me let out a long breath as if shocked by the blatant disregard for my doomed tresses.

I looked over to Audrey, who seemed every bit as fascinated as the men, only she had no reason to hide her interest. Our eyes met in the large wall-to-wall mirror, as the barber snapped a pair of scissors menacingly, wondering where to start.

Using only his hand, he swept a hank away from the side of my head, the strands suspended between his fingers, and snipped along them. A long cascade of blonde silk floated to the floor, but I lost sight of it before it hit the tiled floor. Looking in the mirror, the hair fell back against the side of my face, only just long enough to graze my cheek.

The massacre continued, as more and more of my hair was cut away in similar fashion. As he turned the chair to work on the back, I saw what looked like a puddle of golden fleece surrounding the base of the chair. It was a lot of hair, as he had said.

Once the bulk of the length was gone, the men seemed to lose interest, as if they’d witnessed the ultimate sacrifice, and anything beyond that was simply a haircut. I smiled, knowing that their disinterest was exactly what I was hoping for.

The cutting continued, though, and the barber made no bones about sheering what remained, quite close to my head. It seemed to be falling in layers, mimicking the shape of my skull beneath. The light blonde tresses that I had been so noted for had fallen away, and what remained was dirty blonde that bordered on dusty brown.

Although I could never be mistaken for a man, the haircut I was receiving was certainly one that a man would wear. In fact, I’d seen many a man in my office who had hair quite a bit longer than mine was at that moment, and he wasn’t finished. The barber combed in a side part, and swept the hair across the top of my head, continuing to cut with thinning sheers to force it to lay down flat. He layered and cut and thinned some more but my hair resisted his attempts to tame it. He finally just cut off the length, content with the bristled crop that remained. I tried to stay calm but it was getting harder.

My ears were bare, and for the first time in my life, there was nothing to hide them. The hair was cut around them and they poked out from the sides of my head. They weren’t large enough to be odd, but they were more noticeable than I remembered them being when I had swept my mane back behind them. This was going to take some getting used to.

He set down the scissors, and I thought the barber had finished, being more than ready to hop out of the chair. He lifted a set of clippers from a hook below the counter and cleaned them with a small brush. “I’m just going to taper things in a bit. You did say short and well off the collar?” He reminded me.

I looked over at Audrey, who seemed mesmerized by the transformation she had witnessed. The click-hum of the clippers startled me, but not nearly so much as when they swept up my nape. I could feel the vibration as they transitioned from my neck to my scalp, and I wondered just how short he was taking things.

One pass after the next let me know that my entire neck was shorn to the skin as well as a good portion of the back of my scalp. He began to work on the sides, the clippers taking what had laid so nicely around my ears, sending it fluttering over the cape. I knew then I had taken things a bit too far with my bold request. If I thought my ears were exposed before, now they were stranded in nothing but the finest stubble.

I wanted to reach up and feel what had been done to my hair, knowing how the border of clippered hair felt on Audrey’s neck. Mine would certainly eclipse that, by a mile. I could feel the cool breeze from the overhead fans on my newly shorn skin, as the barber used a comb to blend the shaven back and sides into what little remained on top.

The person looking back at me in the mirror was an utter stranger now. Gone was the fetching beauty who had turned many a head with her glorious mane. My makeup seemed completely out of place, and the large earrings I still had in from the night before, looked ludicrous hanging below the decidedly masculine crop.

I had been so taken by my reflection, that I hadn’t noticed the barber filling his hand with lather. When the warm menthol crème was spread along my nape and thumbed around my ears, I wanted to object. The thing was, I was curious to know how it felt to have that honed blade scrape along my neck. Would it feel anything like when Audrey had shaved my bush?

The first press of the deadly sharp edge against my neck was unlike anything else. Not only was it starting much higher than I imagined it would, but the tug of the thing against my skin was tantalizing. I tried to imagine it was Audrey doing this to me, and I thought I let out a slight moan as the second pass was made.

The barber slowly made his way around to the sides, carving a wide white arch around both of my ears, my scalp hairlessly transitioning into each now. A warm towel was wrapped around my head, and it felt good after everything that had happened; wiping away any evidence of the stubble-laden lather.

Finally, the cape was swept away, and I was released from the bondage of the barber chair. Of course, the first thing I did was explore my new nakedness with my fingers. I wasn’t prepared for how strange it would feel. The only hair on my head was what the barber had left on the top, the sides and back shorn to the skin.

Audrey stood briskly and handed the barber a twenty, escorting me out of the shop by my arm. The men still seated in the chairs saw me with new eyes now, the harsh caress of lust erased, just as my hair had been.

“What on earth possessed you to have your hair cut this short?” Audrey asked. “I mean, I wasn’t about to stop him, because you did sort of ask for it.” She opened the car, pushed me into the passenger seat, and closed the door.

As soon as we were moving, she looked over and smiled. “You know, at least now you look the part.” She reached over and caressed the naked skin around my ear, sending a shiver of arousal straight into my sex.

“And what part would that be?” I asked, demurely.

“Why, my slave, or course. You do want to be my slave, don’t you?” Audrey keened.

“Just get me home and fuck me then, Mistress.” I joked, my hand pressing into my center.

“What the hell are you going to tell them at work?” She asked, shaking her head.

To be honest, I hadn’t even thought about that. Suddenly, a wave of panic settled into the pit of my stomach, mixing with the arousal and morphing into a shade of humiliating projection. “I’ll just tell them I’m a lesbian love slave.” Almost meaning it.

“Um…I don’t think that would be wise.” Audrey chided. She thought for a moment and then stopped the car. “It’s still early. Why don’t we go buy you a wig.”

         “But, I think I’d like to…”

“Then I can take you home and finish what the barber started.” Her eyes flashed that electric blue I so loved when she had something devious in mind for me.

I tried not to think too much about what was coming, but it was hard not to. The wig shop was going to be torture.

  1. My goodness Claire I am serious your stories just keep getting better and better! Like Roy said, there is definitely something special about “Girl in a Barbershop” stories. I really liked the domination/submission aspect of the story. I thought the ending was interesting. I’ve never really thought much about women wearing a wig in order to cover up the fact that they have a short haircut. So many wonderful things about this story!

As always Claire I really appreciate your work, and I hope you will stay encouraged to write more stories!
