ShorngirlModeratorI recently have been taking a long hard look at things here. Writing erotic fiction as been a wonderful release for me over the years, and for those of you who are familiar with my work, you know that has been quite a long time. I have seen wonderfully talented authors publish work here, and have enjoyed reading and conversing with them. Lately, though, there seems to be a judgmental quality to the comments that speak not only to the quality and contents of the work but to the creator as a person. One piece in particular comes to mind, where an author is literally dragged through the coals for writing a piece that was obviously meant as fiction and fantasy. Three things come to mind immediately: 1. This is a site that caters to fetish and erotica. 2. Everything published here is fictitious, unless otherwise stated. 3. Writers are free to publish pertinent subject matter that centers on haircut related topics.
To be honest, the latest round of discussion makes me leery of publishing my work here. As I have always said, this place is a release for me; somewhere where I can write freely, without the constraint of editors and publishers nit-picking every other word. Now, it seems we are to be judged for the fiction we create, and compared to it as it might relate to our actual lives.
Every author creates in a different way, and employs different angles to their creations, which make the work their own. Some stories can be happy, some sad, some degrading and some humiliating, but the premise for publishing is always to elicit a specific reaction from the reader. Let us not douse the spark of creativity in those that work so diligently to publish here.
Very sincerely meant,

ModeratorI’m going to make the assumption that we are talking about the story that as of posting this was up to 16 comments.
If Stacy would like to she should go ahead and unapprove any comments she feels are over the line. I’m usually happy to do that, but frankly I just don’t have it in me to deal with it tonight. I’m in no frame of mind to dsort through and decide what crosses the line. If I need to deal with it it’s going to be a few days.
I just came here to try to forget shit. I’m supposed to be writing a fucking eulogy, but all I can fucking think about it what it felt like to rest my head on her boob while she stroked my hair and other private shit, and how fucking pissed I am that I’m never Nevermind this isn’t really the right time and place for this either
Anyway, I can’t tonight, I just can’t. I care, I just can’t tonight though

ShorngirlModeratorI’m so sorry, Ginger. I had no idea. My sincere condolences.
To be honest, I wasn’t really looking for moderation by you, but rather just more constructive comments moving forward. I’m sure others will weigh in and some consensus might be reached.
Again, I’m so sorry for your loss.

ParticipantI know it can hurt when comments don’t go our way on stories, but part of me feels that that, unfortunately, is part of the risk of baring yourself to the public in these ways. And that’s why I hold people who do in such high regard. That’s not meant to condone anything unfortunate that was said, but more as a way of saying that trying to prevent it can be like trying to stop the tides — it’d be really hard to do. And it completely sucks and it’s not right, but sometimes the easiest and healthiest thing to do is to just brush it aside and pay the person no mind. Don’t even engage, you know?
It’s startling how hard it seems to be for people to simply not comment on something that might not suit them. Like… just click away from the story and move on, folks.
I hope you continue, Claire. I’ve really enjoyed your stories and your participation here.
(I’m so sorry, Ginger)

ModeratorClaire, you might not have been asking me to moderate, but that was what needed to happen. I have now gone and at least started it, though I pretty much did it with a sledge hammer. That included removing comments you and I and Stacy made that were obviously fine, but didn’t really make sense out of context.
And thanks guys, I really probably shouldn’t have brought it up, but I’m pretty raw.

ModeratorStacey, “regret” suggests you did something wrong, you didn’t.

StanParticipantI hope I’m not intruding here, but I have to say that I’m astonished at the hullabaloo over what is in fact quite a witty little story. I laughed out loud a number of times while reading it and I found myself chuckling over parts of it while going about my daily routine all last week. I was planing to add this to the comments section of the story yesterday, but when I saw that Ginger had taken most of the comments down, I decided against it. Then, I had the bright idea of checking the Forum and have been debating with myself all day about posting it here.
The comments I made about Girl Friday, were intended to express my appreciation of Stacey’s work in general and this story in particular, nothing else. As to the circus that sprung-up in the wake of the first three comments to Girl Friday, I can for the moment find but one explanation, however improbable it may seem: last Monday was the Full Moon and things often get weird around that time. Of course we could go into the question of being a Free Thinker in a Politically Correct world, but I prefer the Full Moon theory.
My sincere condolences to you Ginger. I don’t want to be presumptuous but I have the feeling your story Fifty, may have been written to help you deal with this possible loss. No comment is necessary and if I’m intruding, I apologise.
Stan

ShorngirlModeratorHi Ginger,
Please feel free to contact me. I believe, as a moderator, you have access to my email, as I am hesitant to post it here in so public a forum. Looking forward to hearing from you.

ShorngirlModeratorHi Ginger. I’m afraid I never received the email. I would never not respond, even if I did not have answer. Please, do try again.
