Supriya is a 19 year old South Indian girl studying in a prestigious college. She was always a studious girl who was the topper in every grade. Things didn’t change in college also. She was the topper in the first year of college.
Supriya is not only brilliant but also a pretty girl. Her most striking feature was her long straight black hair reaching below her butt. It was very thick and shiny and she always like to flaunt her hair. But all these made her very arrogant too. She was rude to fellow students and she didn’t had many friends.
One day the soccer team captian Anirudh approached Supriya. “Hey Supriya i was looking for you. Our soccer team has reached quarter finals and we are hoping we win this years finals” he said. “So what I am not a soccer player for u to recruit” Supriya said without even looking at him. “You are the best student our team is thinking you can make a speech for us in the inaugural event of this years finals.”he said.Supriya started laughing.”What makes you think you and your pathetic team makes it into finals this year” she asks. Anirudh became angry. “How dare you insult my team like that?” He said. “Look you can get angry all you want but stats shows your team will never get past the semis. So im not interested to waste my precious time helping some losers. You can find someone else.” She said arrogantly. “You are unbelievable how can you insult your own college team like that. You can keep your stats to yourself but we are going to win this years finals.” Said Anirudh. “Oh I i don’t have to keep those stats because i know you are gonna lose this time too. And I will bet anything on that.” She said. “You sure about that. Are you ready to bet anything”Asked Anirudh.”Oh yes I am. If you win this years finals I will do anything you ask” She said arrogantly. They shook hands on the deal.
The news of the bet spread like wild fire through the campus. Soon everyone started to root for the college soccer team. Most of thr students and some staffs too wanted Supriya to lose the bet. The team won semi finals and advanced on to the finals. Finally the day of the finals arrived. Everyone including Supriya came to watch the game. She is a little bit nervous now since she never expected the team to reach the finals. But she tried to hide her nervousness.
When the final whistle of the game heard on the stadium everyone was cheering except Supriya. Because she knew she screwed up the TEAM WON. The team lifted the trophy and reached at the centre of the stadium. Some of the team members stopped Supriya as she tried to leave and escorted her to the centre of the stadium. “Now it’s time for out BEST STUDENT to pay up on her bet” said Anirudh.”Since she lost the bet she has to shave her head completely bald and carry the cup all around the campus with her bald head”. Anirudh announced through the mic. Everyone in the audience applauded at the decision.”No you can’t do that to me” Supriya screamed and started to run. But the soccer team blocked her path and escorted her back to the centre. “Please don’t do this im sorry please don’t shave my head” she pleaded with them. “You were so arrogant not only to me but to our entire college. You are the one who wanted to bet with me. Now you are going to pay up.”said Anirudh.
Two of the players forced Supriya to kneel down. Anirudh took a straight razor and started to shave from the forehead. Supriya was crying uncontrollably knowing she was defeated. Within minutes he finished shaving top of her head and then moved to the right side. After 15 minutes Anirudh made supriya completely bald. He collected all her long hair.” This will be kept along with the trophy in our trophy cabinet for all to see.So everyone will understand the cost of arrogance. Supriya’s head was lathered and another team member began to shave her head. One by one all of the 11 team members shaved her head again and again till they are satisfied. Supriya’s felt like her head was burning with all the continous shaving. Her head was so smooth and glistened under the stadium light. Then they paraded her with the trophy all around the campus. Everyone was teasing and laughing at supriya.
After that incident Supriya understood that she should always be humble. And she was always reminded of that whenever she passed the trophy cabinet. Her long hair was still there along with the trophy for everyone to see. It was the most hard lesson in her life that she never gonna forget.
