Mona and Adhi stood romantically at the balcony of the house, away from the noise of the family gathering. The walls echoed with faint sounds from the kitchen and relatives chatting in the other rooms, but here, it was just the two of them. “So, Mona,” Adhi started with a small smile, “tell me about yourself. What do you like? What do you enjoy doing?” Mona smiled softly. “I like simple things. I love reading books, especially stories about strong women. And I enjoy cooking. My mom’s fish curry is my favorite to make.” Adhi chuckled. “I’ll hold you to that—your fish curry better be amazing.” She laughed, the nervousness easing a bit. “And you? What do you like?” “I’m into cricket , watching and sometimes playing with friends. Also, I enjoy music—old Malayalam songs mostly. Nothing fancy.”

Mona nodded. “That sounds nice. I like music too, but more classical. Carnatic. My grandmother taught me.” then slowly her hands trembled slightly as she looked at Adhi. She had rehearsed this moment many times, yet now that it was here, it felt heavier. “Adhi,” she started, “there is something very important I need to tell you before we go any further.” She paused, searching his face for any sign of judgment. “It’s about how I want to be on our wedding day.” Adhi leaned forward, attentive and calm. “You can tell me anything, Mona. I’m here.” She swallowed her fear. “I want to be bald on our wedding day. Not just a simple shave, but completely clean-headed. It’s not just about looks… it means something deep to me. It’s part of who I am.”

Adhi’s replied with a warm smile spread across his lips. “ Mona, that’s beautiful. If that is what you want, I will support you fully. We will make it happen.” Mona’s eyes glistened. “Really? You don’t think it’s strange?” “No, it’s your choice. And I respect that. More than anything, I want you to be happy.” They sat silently for a moment, the bond between them quietly strengthening. “So,” Adhi said finally, “when do you want to do this?” Mona smiled shyly. “Maybe before the wedding. We could go to a salon together.” Adhi nodded. “I’ll be right there with you. Every step.” so they planned to meet next week for the head shave. Adhi arrived at Mona’s house that afternoon. She stepped out quietly, her bobcut-length hair bouncing gently with each step.

“You okay?” he asked. “Little nervous,” she admitted, running a hand through her hair. “But more excited.”  and they drove toward the rich unisex salon in town. The salon’s cool air met them as they entered. The female stylist was already expecting them. Without a word, she gestured Mona toward the chair. Mona sat down, her fingers nervously combing through her hairs. Adhi took a seat beside her. The stylist draped a fresh white cape around Mona and gently brushed her hair one last time. “Beautiful hair, miss. Shall we begin?” Mona took a breath. “Full Motta.” “Really full Head shave?” the stylist confirmed. Mona smiled. “Of course.”She took a fine comb, parted Mona’s hair perfectly at the center. Mona watched her reflection, her heart pounding.

A gentle buzz filled the room as the stylist switched on the trimmer. She placed it at the front center of Mona’s head, just above the forehead, and slowly drove it back along the midline. Thick clumps of hair slid down the cape and onto the floor. The trimmer continued its work, inch by inch reducing Mona’s crowning bob to a fine stubble. By the end, her entire head was uniformly short, a shadow of what it was minutes ago. She set the trimmer aside and picked up a water spray bottle. Cool mist was gently sprayed across Mona’s scalp, making the tiny stubble glisten. A thick, rich shaving foam was then lathered into her scalp, covering it in white, creamy softness. A gleaming straight razor was drawn. Carefully, the stylist started at the front, making long, clean strokes downwards.

Once finished, the stylist wiped away the remaining foam with a warm, damp towel. Mona’s scalp now shone smoothly under the salon’s ceiling lights. The final touch came with a soothing aftershave gel, massaged gently over the clean scalp. Mona’s eyes closed for a moment, savoring the cool, tingling sensation. The stylist removed the cape. Mona rose slowly, turning toward the mirror. A smooth, pristine scalp reflected back at her. “Thank you for this,” Mona said softly. “Anything for you, kutty,” Adhi replied as he gave her a look of cute admiration. They paid and left the salon hand in hand — Mona’s head catching the evening light, strangers glancing, but they didn’t care. A new chapter had begun.

The wedding day arrived. Mona sat before the mirror in the bridal room of her home, her smooth, freshly shaved scalp gleaming under the soft yellow light. The makeup was done perfectly. The golden jhumkas and layered necklaces shone bright against her bare scalp. The absence of hair made every feature of her face stand out sharper, more striking. As she stepped out into the mandapam, heads turned. Some eyes widened, some whispered, but Mona walked forward elegantly. Adhi stood waiting at the mandap, a proud, satisfied smile on his face as he saw her. Every ritual photograph had her bald head glowing, a mark of confidence and choice. A week later, their honeymoon trip began. They went to a luxury backwater resort and booked a villa.

Mona, dressed in a simple sleeveless kurti and palazzos, walked along the wooden deck. The sunlight reflected off her bare scalp, catching Adhi’s attention each time she moved. Mona enjoyed every bit of it — the breeze brushing against her clean head, Adhi would casually run his hand over her head while talking, pretending to check its shine, and she’d roll her eyes, secretly loving it. Even at the resort’s spa, Mona chose a scalp massage session. The attendant was surprised at first but then admired the look as she applied scented oil, gently massaging it over her stubbles scalp. The sensation of cool oil on shaved skin was something Mona had never experienced before. That night in their honeymoon suite.

Mona stood before the mirror, running her palms over her scalp, she shyly said, “Adhi… can you shave my head again? I want it clean… smooth… like the wedding day.” Her voice was soft, almost teasing. Adhi loved how she embraced this part of herself so openly, and without a word, he fetched the shaving kit from their bathroom. Mona sat on a soft chair before the large mirror of their honeymoon suite, Adhi gently sprayed water over her scalp, the cool droplets making her shiver slightly in delight. He worked a rich lather of foam between his palms and slowly applied it over her head, the thick, white foam covering every inch of her scalp. With the gleaming razor in hand, Adhi began from the center, gliding it smoothly downwards.

The gentle scraping sound filled the room, each stroke leaving behind flawless, clean skin. his eyes caught Mona’s reflection. Something in him snapped. Without a word, he set the razor aside, leaned in, and pressed his lips against lips, He kissed her again and again on her lips neck forehead and was lost in her beauty. Mona let out a soft gasp, tilting her head towards him. Their mouths met, hungry, urgent. Foam smeared between their skin, the coolness forgotten in the warmth of deep, unhurried kisses. the room silent but for the sound of their breathing and occasional soft moans. When they finally parted, breathless and flushed, Mona chuckled softly, “You still have one side to finish, mister,” she teased.

Adhi grinned, grabbing the razor again without a word, both knowing the night had just begun. Once done, he wiped her head with a warm, wet towel and massaged in a light after-shave lotion, the scent of sandalwood filling the room. The clean, glass-like smoothness of her scalp glowed under the soft lighting.mona goes for a shower after the shave and  after a while steps out of the shower, her skin still glistening with droplets, a soft towel wrapped snugly around her. She stood in front of the mirror, running her hands over her smooth, bald scalp, marveling at the coolness and the delicate curve of her head. There was a quiet pride in her eyes, a serene glow that came from embracing herself fully, just as she was. Behind her, Adhi watched, a slow smile spreading across his face.

Without a word, he stepped forward and gently lifted her into his arms. Mona laughed softly, the sound warm and breathy, as he carried her toward the bed. The towel slipped slightly, and with careful hands, he peeled it away, leaving her bare and radiant. Adhi’s own clothes came off quickly, one by one, until he stood before her, their eyes locking in a shared promise. Adhi’s hands traced slow, reverent paths over Mona’s bare skin, feeling the smoothness of her freshly shaved head beneath his fingertips. Mona responded with equal warmth, her fingers weaving through his hair, her body arching into his as if saying yes without hesitation. Months passed, and Mona’s shaved head became not just a style but a symbol of her strength and identity.

Sometimes she would visit the saloon again, letting the skilled stylist carefully trace the lines of her scalp, while Adhi sat nearby, watching with a smile, teasing her gently but always supportive. Other times, Mona took the razor into her own hands, relishing the quiet empowerment as she shaved away the stubble herself, feeling a calm sense of control. Adhi loved these moments—the way Mona’s eyes sparkled with confidence, the softness of her scalp under his fingertips, the trust in her smile when she invited him to help. Whether he was the one gently gliding the razor over her head or simply holding her close afterward, their connection deepened with each shave, a ritual that bound them in love and acceptance.
