ParticipantThere shouldn’t be any password protected stories. I have tried to get into the Jeffrey Dahmer Stunt Double story and it is password protect. I have tried a few passwords including the one that logs me into the site. What is the correct password needed to read his latest story.

InactiveI have given Ginger the password. There is nothing unsuitable for the site being written. This is a private story for a friend. I used a facility that is openly available to those who contribute to the site.

ParticipantI contribute to the site but I have never seen the facility although I could never envisage a need to use it.
Personally, I feel that using the site that has been provided by HSNadmin for self-promotimg your story to a friend lies outside the House Rules that the moderators have recently published.
Furthermore, I’m also a little confused by your response as you state it is a private story for A friend, implying only 1 person should have read it, but it has attracted 18 likes.
Personally, I feel it would show respect to the moderators if you clarify your intentions more clearly

But I don’t know why people are liking it, either, and I agree that is odd.I also wasn’t aware I had inform the mods of my intentions every time I post something.

I was just perplexed by why you wouldn’t simply email the story to your friend, rather than utilise the limited bandwidith of the HSN site.
Obviously, it’s not my concern but I do value what the site owner does, and I feel the moderators do a great job and that they appreciate our help when we notice anomalies.
Please believe me when I say I was trying to help the situation, and I apologise unreservedly for not doing so.

JDSD, the story you mention has been taken down by one of the other mods, I am unsure if it stayed up due to a glitch, or if the author undid the moderators intervention (which can get one banned from the site.

I will of course be making those stories public in due course, so they won’t be eating up bandwidth for no reason. This is an easy way for my friend to read them, and I can edit them on the site before making them public. I’ll be honest, I didn’t even think anybody would notice me uploading anything, and I’m kinda flattered to have so much attention.
Misunderstandings and snap judgements happen all the time, only intelligent people will put their hand up and say sorry, which you have done.
No hard feelings, as they say 🙂

“Down to the Wood” was the story that has most resonated with me – great descriptive text, characters and interaction, and a strong (if unfortunate) storyline to hold it all together.

I have been around this community for over 25 years and coming to this site and the other story sites before they was taken over by the name unmentionable. This is the first time that a story has been password protected.

ParticipantGuys we have few enough actual authors here without chasing away those who don’t just use a chat bot.
Even if the stories aren’t to your specific tastes. Even if some of them are locked (for whatever reasons)…
