ParticipantMay I respectfully suggest to the moderators that they remove:
Help to write the continuation of “Casting Off”
by “Baldlesbianlover”
from the list of haircutting stories, simply because it is NOT a haircutting story.
The poster states they are relatively new to the site so they may be unaware of these Forums, and which could be utilised to request ideas and assistance if they wish.

ParticipantThe same author has used AI to write the continuation of the story for the original author of Casting Off. Is feeding other authors’ stories permitted here? If so I will be considering taking down my work to protect it from AI slop.

ParticipantWell, I don’t like fanfic, especially if not done with permission of the original author. I haven’t read it as it’s not clear of which of the two orginal version of Casting Off 2 this is the continuation of and I doubt it meets the standard of the original author. (in other words, there are already 3 Casting Off stories by the original author – Rayzur – of which the latter two are parallel – so both continue after Casting Off original but the follow up stories don’t follow after each other). I don’t know whether this fanfic story was written by AI – seeing the original stories were pornish, it’s unlikely.

anonymous userParticipantSnipmistress you ask a very good question and I will try my best to answer it.
With writing sequels to other people’s stories it is customery to reach out and ask for permission. However because I, and the other moderators, aren’t privy to these conversations it is impossible for us to tell if the original author isn’t ok with the story unless they report it. If so we will take it down.
Plagiarism is not allowed and plagiarised stories will be removed as per the site rules. This has the same issue of us not having sophisticated plagiarism checkers so we have to rely on these stories being reported for us to take them down.
In terms of feeding AI with this. Having said it is against the rules for anyone to plagiarism or do anything with your story without your permission. If someone wanted to copy one of your stories and use it with an AI generator it would ultimately be impossible to know that has happened unless they upload the story here and it is obvious. So in short it is against the rules, but we don’t have a way to stop it if people are doing so privately.
On a related note, I have experimented with using AI on some of my stories to see what it does. Unless you train a model, which takes a huge amount of stories, programing knowledge, and I highly doubt anyone is will to do, specific on you style it basically spits out the same stuff it always does. It will likely take the character names and maybe the hair colour and spit out the exact same thing as if you prompt it with that information. I know this doesn’t change the point about it being theft but it’s worth knowing it’s not really able to take anything that made the original unique or special.
I don’t know if that answered your question because I did ramble a bit. Let me know if you have any questions or more clarification. I know we have been having problems with AI recently but I hope we will be able to get on top of it. The people writing original stories are the backbone of this website so I don’t want them to be sidelined or pushed away by this.
