FlattoppedParticipantI wrote a “choose you own adventure” story with different endings. I wrote it in word with links that jump you to different parts depending on your choices, and back to the choices part when done so you can also try different choices.
When I copied it to this site the links stopped working. Is it possible to use links like that, and if so then how?
If not, I’m left with having to put it all out with manual scrolling back and forth or putting the story out six times, one for each ending. Any preference between these two options?

ModeratorYes. I have used them a couple of times with really long stories.
I always put mine at the top, but they can be other places. Let me know if you need help with the coding.
24th October 2026 at 4:12 pm #78590FlattoppedParticipantI wound up breaking each branch of my choose your own adventure story into separate files and adding them to Google Docs with links, but I suspect site users would feel safer if it were all contained in one document. I’d love to learn how to do it if it is fairly straightforward.

25th October 2026 at 6:26 am #78614ModeratorYou need to be in the story editing code tab. I did mine using code F35h taught me. I’ll see If I can find your drafts using my mod powers and paste the code in for you to edit.
25th October 2026 at 6:47 am #78615ModeratorI couldn’t find it easily, I looked at a couple of your drafts, but didn’t think they were the right ones, and I need to get to sleep, I’ve got real life obligations tomorrow. If you want to create a draft that is specifically a sandbox for testing stuff out, I will C&P the code into it so you can test it out, then C&P it or write new code for your choose-your-own-adventure (I loved those when I was a kid, especially one with time travel to ancient Egypt.)

You can copy or cut and paste the code, then edit it how you like. You need to do it in the code tab.
I think you have what you need to make it work.
Of course let me know if you need more help, though I’m not exactly an expert on it.
