anonymous userModeratorI’m curious what people’s thoughts are about using images in stories (both AI and otherwise). Do people like them or feel that they add to the story?
I have messed around with adding them before and I have seen others add them too much better efect then I did. Is this something people would like to see more of or for them to be added to stories.
When I messed around with them previously it was always AI but I found these where very hard to create specific hairstyles. I initially wrote some of my stories with them and removed them because of this but newer AI models are much better at this. I’m interested to hear whether people think there worth the effort or not?

ParticipantAI art is theft.
But images in stories are fine by me… The Sims 4 thread over on HVIDS makes heavy use of them, and I always enjoyed those stories.

ModeratorI have no problem with the basic concept of having images, but do worry about where people are getting them.
Like if you link to some random woman on instagram’s picture, that would not be cool for her, she didn’t give consent. Consent feels necessary beyond the simple legality issues around copyright due to the nature of this site.
AI has its own issues.
If you can illustrate, that would seem fine. Or properly licensed clip art seems ok.

anonymous userModeratorI came to using AI because it isn’t real people. Using photos of real people doesn’t really sit right with me. Partly because your often sexualising someone random or who hasn’t agreed.
I don’t really understand the point around copyright. To my understanding nobody’s making money off stories on this site so why does copyright apply. I don’t see why it’s any different then say a Pinterest board. Unless it’s avoiding a pay wall, etc.
