ParticipantAt least two of the stories recently posted by JimB are copies of stories by different authors from the older archives with minor changes to the text. I’ve linked the original stories below:
“Shorter, Just Shorter” (original author: Cliper2): Changed a male character to female
“A Match Made in Heaven” (Original author: Scissor Fan): Changed “Mike” to “Mindy”
I won’t claim all of the user’s recent posts are plagiarized. For example, “Friends Do Things Together” was posted by JimB to the original xilef archive. But, they seem to be back to their old habit of adding their copyright to stories that they didn’t write and posting those there.
(I’ll try posting links in a comment on this thread. Including them in the text here results in the topic becoming stuck in moderation.)

Jimmy JocksParticipantOK being new to this cite I felt I needed to find support before claiming that a number of JimB were plagiarized from other authors I found one right out of the gate. The story is titles “Sarah’s unexpected trip to the barber shop”. I have seen it on two other cites on as early as 2016 copy righted Also the number of stories that he claims authorship is 128 stories. The next nearest author has published 53 which is about 40% of what JimB has “done” I have also traced his works back to the late 1900’s and the early 2000’s on a now defunct cite know as “The Haircut Story Archives” which went off line in the mid-2000’s. His total story count on that cite was 39. Also on that cite he tried to steal two stories from another author who went by the handle James. But, the operates of that cite called him on it and he backed down. This shows he has a very long history when it comes to plagiarizing others works.

Jimmy JocksParticipantDid a little more snooping and found that the story “Shorter, Just Shorter” proves out the posting by unomine is correct. The story was publish at least on or before October 2002 on “The Haircut Story Archives” The author was shown to be “ClipEr2” so this backs up the post Just thought you might want to know.

ModeratorJimmy Jocks, I have reason to believe that it is accidental.
Do you have specific information about “Sarah’s Unexpected Trip to the Barber Shop,” or are you going off of memory? Specific information makes looking into things much faster and easier for me.

Jimmy JocksParticipantGinger more then happy to provide you with further info. The story originally appeared on a headshaveing blog site out of India The story shows author as unknown and it is dated and the date of the story is Thursday May 11, 2017 and below you will find an almost’s if not a complete word for word original of the story! If it is an acccident it is sure like the old saying goes. “: A million monkeys hammering a million typewriters for a million years will eventually write the entire works of Shakespeare.”

ParticipantI think we need to be careful, here. That blog site has clearly taken stories from lots of different sites and authors and published them with no credit to anyone. I can’t imagine that all the original authors gave their permission for this!
All we can conclude was that the story *was* published elsewhere sometime before May 2017 – but we can’t tell who originally wrote it, unless there is another, earlier source.

ParticipantI appreciate the the inclination toward charity and caution. But whomever is posting as JimB has made a habit of plagiarizing old stories and claiming them under their copyright. I think at this point, if they post a story the smart bet is that it’s stolen from an older site. Some of the stories they post were written by the original JimB*, but many of them were written by different authors on the old archives.
In this particular case, “Sarah’s unexpected trip to the barbershop” was written by Shavedgurl in 2003, despite JimB labeling it “By JimB ©opyright October 2018”

The blogspot post is also plagiarizing the original author.
At this point, I mostly try to ignore their posts. But it does irk me that they’re allowed to continue posting after repeated incidents of plagiarism spanning several years. I guess the brightside, is that once you’ve identified a plagiarist, it’s pretty easy to just ignore any posts by that username.
*I suspect the current JimB is a different person than the original JimB. It seems odd (and highly disrespectful) for somebody who wrote dozens of stories decades ago to suddenly start plagiarizing other peoples’ stories. But I could be wrong.

ParticipantThe real JimB is either retired, is unable or willing to write or has past on. I have been involved in writing and posting haircutting stories for over 40 years. My first story back in 1980 I sold to a major magazine publisher for $50. I knew JimB myself as well as a number of friends too. This is just someone who stole JimB’s handle and claims all that was JimB’s as his. I am very surprised I have not seen other pioneer writes stories, more than have been used so far, being used by this fake. Enough is a enough it is time that action is to be taken. Just my personal opinion and thank you for the forum to express my views.
