KeymasterAs the site has grown and we have more and more authors it’s clear that a moderation team of two isn’t quite cutting it. Ginger Herten has been absolutely amazing as a moderator and support with the site but we have both agreed that it’s time to expand the team.
It’s not been a nice experience reading negative comments about this site on other forums saying that we’re enabling unsavory content. At the end of the day this is a fetish website but a line has to be drawn somewhere. Previously I’ve tried to let the community moderate the site but that’s become unsustainable.
What does this involve?
Working with myself and Ginger to review stories and comments and making sure they comply with the guidelines of this website. Your website account will be upgraded and you’ll be able to moderate directly within the admin. You’ll need to be a regular visitor to this website and have time to spend reviewing the forum and moderating content.
How do I apply?

anonymous userParticipantI think it might be worth writing up some rules formally so it’s more of a red line of what is/isn’t allowed. I’ve also seen some people ask whether something is allowed so it might help in those circumstances as well.
Most of the time I’ve been writing the moderation on this site has been very good. It’s just recently there’s so many stories and languages I don’t know how you can moderate without reading them all. I had to give up on trying to read everything a while ago.

KeymasterSome good points, I think as a moderation team we will be tasked with compiling and enforcing the rules.

ParticipantNot sure I have the qualifications to be a moderator, but I visit this site almost daily, often multiple times a day & I usually have available time to read stories if I choose to. Let me know further exactly what would be expected of me & I may be able to help out.

ParticipantI only recently started publishing stories here, but I’m a regular visitor of the site for years – two-three times a week, mainly on weekends. I understand how complex the moderation of this page can be, so I would like also to bring in my language skills (native French, good German, good English, okay’ish Italian). Before saying “yes, I volunteer” I would like to know a bit more about how much work do you expect, and what kind of rules will be established – starting from acceptable content to when using a four-eyes-principle gets involved…

ModeratorWhile I can’t say exactly what HSNadmin expects, I can mention what I do.
I come by, take a quick look around, and check the forum nearly daily. I don’t generally log in when doing this. Obviously, if I see something reported in the “report a story” forum, I will look at the reported story ASAP. I also just keep an eye out for anything that looks unusual or off, like if a story has an unusual amount of comments, it might just be a tame back and forth conversation, but occasionally it’s an issue.
Every few days, I tend to log in. It doesn’t always happen, sometimes things look reasonably quiet and real life is busy (yes, I have a day job, family, social life, community responsibilities, and even other hobbies) so it gets put off, but I try.
When I log in, I check pending comments, most of them just need to be approved because the commenter is new. I also just scan through all the newer comments briefly. When I’m doing this I am looking for few things. One is accusations of plagiary, which I do try to get people to report in the forum instead of the comments, because that’s much easier for me to find, but often it’s in the comments. The next is spam, we don’t get tons, but it happens. Of course there are just inappropriate or rude comments. Very occasionally, some commenter are kind of creeping on the author (asking where they live, requesting emails, etc,) that’s not very common though.
When there is an accusation of plagiarism, I don’t just take it at face value. I go and look at the supposed source material. I google looking for other copies of the story. I try to make sure it isn’t a repost by the same author. I consider the possibility that the supposed original source is actually a a copy. It can be difficult and I don’t take the story down till I feel the evidence is very strong.
As an example scenario: Some one reports author “Nameitty-Name-123” has plagerized “X-story” published today. The link they hopefully provide is to “XY-story” by author “Tote-Dif-Name” published last year. When I go digging though, I find an older version of “X-Story” by the author “Nameitty-Name” published 10 years ago. In that case even on the surface it looked like “Nameitty-Name-123” was plagiarizing, it is more likely that “Nameitty-Name-123” is the same person as “Nameitty-Name” and “Totes-Dif-Name” plagiarized them.
Then there are the inappropriate stories. These are in some ways easier and faster than investigating plagiarism, but take a hard to quantify toll. There are times I really just have not been up to reading some of this stuff. Sometimes it’s not even the stuff that’s really inappropriate, sometimes it’s just that it’s stuff I personally really dislike even though it’s all between consenting adults, and I end up leaving it, but I had to read it. I don’t want to yuck someone else’s yum, but some people actually like fried liver.
I just make thing private, not removing them permanently, so the author can appeal if they want. I only move things like obvious spam to the bin, and even at that I think HSNadmin can retrieve stuff from the bin if necessary.
Anything I’m unsure about I leave for HSNadmin. Like now there is still a pending comment I am just leaving pending because it’s a question for an author, and I’m not sure if it crosses the line to being too personal or not.

ParticipantHow much of a time commitment is necessary?
I’m at least somewhat interested though I can’t claim to know every language used here.27th February 2025 at 9:00 am #65395
anonymous userParticipantI’m aware that I’ve not been around as long as most the people on this site. But I do tend to check this site multiple times a day. I also use to read every story though that’s not been the case recently. If the main responsibilities are to check the forms regularly, remove agreagus stories and flag borderline cases for the more experienced admins I can do that. Only monolingual tho.
