ParticipantIt’s not strictly against the rules, but I wonder if something ought to be done about this. Today’s example comes from Mor with three parts of the same story posted one after the other on the same day. I’m not trying to single this author out, I’ve seen it before, and as I said it’s not technically against the rules, but giving each post a quick skim and they are continuations of the same story and not particularly long, I don’t see a reason these need to be split up, especially since the Prologue only contains a small tease of hair-related content right at the end.
It’s not just this set of stories that bothers me, if it were a one-off I’d probably ignore it, but it’s happened several times and it causes the same problem as people spamming AI stories – one author takes up more than their fair share of the front page. Personally I think we need stricter rules on posting many times in quick succession, or the site will become unusable.

ParticipantAs you have rightly said, unfortunately, there does seem to be an increasing trend for new authors and generators of “AI stuff” to spam the web site and dominate the home page. Their reasons are a complete mystery to me! However, I have learnt from the moderating team that a technical solution to reduce the frequency of posting is being worked on in the long term to prevent the situation recurring in the future.
In the meantime, I would have hoped that the individuals causing these repeated issues on the home page – whether deliberately or accidentally – would have taken immediate steps to moderate their behaviour. Sadly, they persist with their unfriendly and unfair conduct to the detriment of all the long-standing users of the site.
Personally, when I write multi-part stories, I strive to ensure each part comprises at least one haircut. I also aim to make each part reasonably self-contained so that it can be read, if desired, without having read earlier parts, and I will include a recap if I feel it would be useful.
As a result of lovely feedback from several readers of one recent story – one character in particular – I have just completed four sequels that are ready for publication. Indeed, they are uploaded to draft status on the website, simply waiting for me to hit the “Publish” button.
However, I have not, and would not, release all parts at once, for all the reasons you mention. I would publish one, perhaps two, a week, in order to be fair to all the other established authors wishing to present their stories on the home page, and for them to remain there for a reasonable amount of time. Fairness is the operative word, I feel.
Unfortunately, with some individuals regularly posting multiple stories and/or AI stuff in a single day over the last couple of months, I’m unsure when or, indeed, if I can summon the enthusiasm to post even the first of these sequels if it will be immediately be lost to the regular readers.
Until the technical solution is implemented, one would hope that ALL users of the site would voluntarily restrict their spamming activities and allow the past quality of this superb resource to be restored.
It is a resource, it should be remembered, provided free of charge by the generosity of the site owner, and maintained by an excellent team of diligent moderators who give up their time freely. Thanks guys, I certainly appreciate all you do.
