Searching and filters

I’m not technically minded at all, so forgive me if I don’t use the correct terminology. It is possible to search for stories by reference to one or more words (e.g. ponytail) but it doesn’t seem that I can then select the ones which have (e.g) the most views or are the highest rated. It is possible to do so while on the main page but that only reveals the most recent stories. It doesn’t seem to be possible to us these filters when using the ‘Authors’ and ‘All Stories’ tab. It used to be possible before the recent changes. I hope this helps.

hi @totallyhairless I’m not totally sure exactly what you’re asking here. You should be able to search for the term you want in the search bar in the header and then re-order the results page.

Thanks for looking into my query, but that is exactly the problem I was trying to outline (obviously not as clearly as I should have). On the main page oll of the filters work, so it is possible to reorder by clicking the title, author, date, views, likes or comments tabs. If, however, I search for a word (eg ponytail) it is not then possible to reorder the results. In other words, those same tabs don’t work following a preliminary search. I hope that explains the issue.

It was rather remiss of me not to have thanked you last time for all your hard work in running the site. I greatly appreciate it.

Ok, I get it. You can now reorder search results by views and comments. I’m working on reordering by likes.

The functionality on the homepage is nice and works well for a few results but we saw major problems with the performance of the website when implementing this sorting functionality site-wide as thousands of people are using the site each day browsing thousands of stories.

We now have a more stable platform to go forward with pagination of categories and search but I left the live reordering on on the homepage as those lists are limited to 50 for logged in members and 25 for those not logged in.
