Site Updates

Hi all, just a quick post to say that there have been some fairly major updates made to the site this week.

Behind the scenes the codebase has been updated and will prove to be quicker and more reliable. It will also mean that one or two little bugs have been straightened out.

There are also a few new features to enjoy which include:

• Longer home page lists for logged in users
• ”My Likes” feature on the home page for logged in users showing your most recently liked stories
• Reordering functionality in categories allowing you to order stories by number of views or comments
• Tidy of story comments section
• Restructured menu bar

There will be more updates along imminently and I’ll keep you all updated here.

There may have been one or two side effects. I can’t seem to comment on stories now. Might be an ipad or safari specific issue.

Yes, all fixed, I can comment. I noticed another small issue though, when I click on page 2 of Klaatu48’s stories, it comes back page not found. I should check to see if it’s the same for other authors.

Then I’ll run a few of the unapproved comments through translate, so you don’t have to do everything..

I ran the not english comments through translate, anything left I was undecided about.

I have noted an issue with uploading using “Add New Story” leading to the error message below:

I have added a story using the same workflow as I had previously, and the published version looks fine.
However, I did notice that the fonts used for “Paragraph” and “Heading2” (the only ones I use) appear different in the Story text box (using “Visual”) when editing. However, as I say, it publishes fine so no real issue.

FYI, I write offline in MS Word, and restrict to using just “Paragraph” and “Heading2”, then copy and paste into the text box and I am fairly confident that in the past the fonts there were the same as the published ones.

I have also noticed that there appears to be a blank line (or perhaps non-printing formatting?) at the start of the story text box in “Visual” view, but it does not appear in “Text” view.

I hope that makes sense but let me know if you need any more information, or for me to do any further testing.
