Would this even qualify?

In pondering a prospective story I would post here (which has turned into the haircut-focussed chapter of a much longer prospective tale) I came to think of roads not taken by having that haircut happen in the way it does,leading to something where a haircut wouldn’t even be in the story though it’s about a hair change.

In this alternative narrative,a woman with a conservative corporate haircut and subdued natural color gets a wild wig,bleach-blonde stripper-hooker-bimbette look,for some costumed play,which she puts on over her natural hair.

After some time has passed,the same woman has been wearing a wig with the conservative cut and subdued color of her old style,but removes it to reveal her own hair is now bleached blonde in the wild stripper-hooker-bimbette look,reflecting the intervening changes in her lifestyle.

Is something still a haircut story if the character winds up wearing her hair longer than she used to?

I think it would. This site is hairstorynetwork not haircutstorynetwork after all and I’ve definitely seen stuff that’s even less of a haircut story on here.

I have considered writing stories just about people who grow out there hair long. Especially if its a slightly unwilling thing or if they don’t like having long hair. One of my earlier stories was based around this sort of premises although I rather clumsily added a haircut to the end.

I would also say if you do write a story that isn’t based or centred around a haircut to put something at the start saying as such.

In the general genre of woman being transitioned from one identity to another,the progression of old identity hair only to old identity hair on head + new identity hair as wig to new identity hair on head + old identity hair as wig to to new identity hair only is logical and if told in detail can include cuts.

In the alternative here I was simply contemplating some encounters whereby the change of which is wig is revealed to some observer.

The main concept,which I have used in something I wrote long ago as well,sees the woman go from old identity hair on head + new identity wig to new identity becoming bald,so a different way of flipping things so that the former identity becomes the disguise rather than vice versa (the new identity wig can continue to be used,the old identity wig eventually discarded when that identity is abandoned,but the new identity becomes bald on her inner level rather than dyeing her hair).
