The JimB on this forum has also been claiming other people’s stories as his own. I don’t really give a shit if it’s the “real” JimB, someone who stole his account, or some other dude with the same name (It’s not like it’s an uncommon one). This kind of thing has no place here.

I agree it’s subtle; I had to read the first paragraphs twice, too, which is two times more than it deserved. I hope these creeps will get the message that this kind of thing is not accepted here.

‘copyright’ is a specific legal term that applies to a ‘work’, not a ‘style’, but I think I know what you mean. A lot of artists make money off of being able to provide a specific style (their own). Now anyone with a computer can steal their lunch.

Legally, photographs are no different from other artwork; the ones I generated aren’t copying a specific artists’ ‘style’. We’ll see where public (not to mention legal) opinion lands when the dust is settled, but for now, I’m leaving the images in place. Thanks for chiming in.

I recently used AI art to illustrate a story I wrote a while ago, here. I understand that it AI art is morally questionable, but using AI photograph sidesteps the issue of attaching your fantasies to images of real living people. The women in these generated images don’t exist in the real world; they’re based on a composite of many different people.

What is right and wrong here? Obviously, I don’t have to attach images to stories, but I found this solution rather neat, and I wonder what my fellow authors think.
