Sofia always took pride in her long, thick dark hair. She wore it in intricate braids and adorned it with beautiful hair accessories. As an Arab hijab girl, her hair was a symbol of her identity and beauty. Being hijab clad also meant that she was always conscious of her modesty and covered her hair with a hijab at all times.

One day, Sofia was on her way home from the market, carrying bags of groceries for her family. She walked through the quiet streets and didn’t notice the van following her. Suddenly, she felt a rough hand grab her from behind and a cloth was placed over her mouth. She tried to scream and fight back, but she soon lost consciousness.

When Sofia woke up, she found herself in an unfamiliar room, tied to a chair. She could see four men standing in front of her, grinning maliciously. She knew they were gang members from the way they were dressed. One of them was holding her hijab in his hand, smirking at her.

‘Welcome to our hideout, sweetie. You’re going to be here for a while,’ the man with her hijab said.

Sofia’s heart raced with fear. She had heard about girls being kidnapped by gangs, and she never imagined she would be one of them. As tears welled up in her eyes, she couldn’t stop thinking about her family and how worried they must be.

‘What do you want from me?’ Sofia asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

‘Oh, we want nothing from you, dear. We just want to have some fun,’ the man said, gesturing to the other gang members.

Sofia’s eyes widened in horror as she saw the other men take out scissors and a pair of clippers. She knew what was coming, and she prayed that it wouldn’t happen.

‘Please, let me go. I won’t tell anyone about this. Please,’ Sofia begged, her voice trembling with fear.

The men just laughed and ignored her pleas. They grabbed her hijab and forcefully pulled it off her head, revealing her long, luscious hair. Tears streamed down Sofia’s face as she watched her hijab being thrown to the floor.

One of the gang members, the one who had her hijab, grabbed the scissors and began cutting her hair. He cut off sections of her hair, letting it fall to the ground. Sofia could feel her heart breaking with every snip of the scissors. Her beautiful hair, her identity, was being taken away from her.

Once all her hair was cut off, the man holding the scissors grabbed the clippers. He turned them on and ran them through her hair, leaving only a short layer of hair on top. Sofia felt numb as she watched her hair fall to the ground, her identity being stripped away from her. She couldn’t stop the tears from falling as her long hair was turned into a mess of uneven stubble.

The gang members laughed and cheered as they watched Sofia’s transformation. One of them even filmed the whole thing, taunting her and calling her names. Sofia felt humiliated and violated. She couldn’t believe this was happening to her.

As the man finished shaving her head, he stepped back to admire his work. He then grabbed a towel and wiped off the remaining hair from Sofia’s head. She looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize the person staring back at her. Instead of her long, beautiful hair, she now had a horseshoe flattop, just like one of the gang members.

‘There, now you fit right in, hijab girl,’ the man said with a sneer.

The gang members left the room, leaving Sofia alone with her thoughts. She couldn’t believe what had just happened. She had always been careful and followed all the rules, but that didn’t protect her from the cruelty of these men. She felt a mixture of anger and sadness and vowed to never let them break her spirit.

As days passed, Sofia was kept captive by the gang members. They used her as a maid and treated her like a slave. But Sofia refused to let them break her. She held on to her faith and found strength in her prayers.
