Anika and Rohit decide to take action when Suja is most vulnerable—on one of the hottest days of the year. Rohit will prepare the plan while Anika executes it. Rohit suggests, “We can secretly apply some products that will make her hair heavier and more difficult to manage. We could also make sure she gets caught in the sun without realizing how uncomfortable her hair will be. Let’s make her feel the weight of it.” They buy a heavy hair oil from the market which makes Suja’s hair feel greasy and weighed down.

Anika, with her knowledge of how the oil will act in the heat, prepares it, making sure it’s sticky and unmanageable once applied. For the first time, she began feeling the true weight of her beautiful locks. The sweat clung to her scalp, and the humidity made her hair feel heavier by the day. Every strand seemed to stick to her face, creating a mess she couldn’t avoid. Suja, always proud of her thick hair, began to feel uneasy. Her scalp became more itchy, and her hair, once smooth and voluminous, now felt tangled and clumped.

Despite her discomfort, Suja continued her routine—washing her hair with her usual shampoo, trying different oils, hoping for relief. But what she didn’t know was that the hair fall solution mixed into her shampoo was doing its silent work. The strands of her hair were thinning. Slowly, her hairline started to rise, exposing more of her forehead, a stark contrast to her usual thick mane. At home, Anika and Rohit were watching, silently pleased. They knew this was the breaking point. Suja was feeling the discomfort they had intended, and she couldn’t ignore it anymore.

Rohit turned to Anika, his eyes calm, knowing the end of this silent battle was near. Vikas, noticing the change in suja… He observed his her more closely, seeing her struggle with the heat and the discomfort of her thinning hair. At first, he tried to brush it off, thinking it was just the season’s effect, but when he saw her constantly adjusting her hair, wiping sweat from her forehead, and noticing the strands that now clung to her hands, he grew concerned.

One evening, as Anika sat by the window, running her fingers through her hair, Vikas, in a quiet tone, suggested, “Suja, I think it’s time for a reshave for Anika. Her hair’s growing back unevenly. It might be better to get it reshaved to allow it to grow back more evenly and properly.” Suja, already frustrated with her own hair situation, shot him a quick glance. Vikas continued, almost as an afterthought, “Maybe you should also get a trim . It might help you with the heat, and you’ve been struggling a lot with your hair. It might be time for both of you to take care of it properly.”

Suja’s eyes narrowed, sensing the weight behind his suggestion, but she said nothing, simply nodding. She was tired and confused, but Vikas’ words carried a certain authority that made her think twice. Suja finally relented. “Fine, we’ll go to the salon,” she said with a tone of resignation, rubbing her temples. “But only for a trim for me. Anika can do whatever she wants with her hair.” She wasn’t fully convinced, but the heat and hassle of managing her long, thick hair had pushed her to a breaking point.

Anika, sensing the moment, quickly nodded in agreement. But deep down, she was excited about what would come next. She had already discussed with Rohit what she would do — a plan that would take things to the next level. As Rohit, Anika, and Suja stepped into the salon. Rohit, eager to beat the summer heat, took the chair first, opting for a buzzcut. The clippers hummed through his thick hair, and with each pass, his scalp cooled, a sense of liberation flooding him. “It feels so much better,” he said, his voice tinged with satisfaction.

Anika sat next, waiting nervously hesitant to make the first move. Suja, noticing her unease, turned to the stylist. “What would be best for her? Her hair is uneven, and I don’t want it to grow out messily.” The stylist examined Anika’s hair and nodded. “Honestly, the best option would be a clean shave. It will help with even regrowth, and the fresh start will be great for the scalp.” Suja hesitated, but seeing Anika’s hopeful yet unsure expression, she finally sighed. “Fine. Do whatever is best for her.”

The stylist first snipped away the remaining uneven strands with scissors before bringing the clippers to her scalp. As the buzzing sound filled the air, Anika closed her eyes, feeling the vibrations travel through her skull. The thick locks tumbled down, leaving only short stubble. Then came the final touch—the foam. The cool lather spread across her head, followed by the razor’s gentle glide, stripping away every last trace of hair. With each stroke, her head grew smoother, and by the end, her scalp gleamed under the salon lights. She lifted her hand and ran it over her freshly shaved head, shivering at the strange yet exhilarating sensation.

She reached up and ran her hand through her own long, slightly thinning hair. The past few weeks had been uncomfortable—the constant sweating, the tangles, the hair fall. watching Anika now, she felt something stir inside her. The stylist draped the cape around Suja and asked, “Which haircut would you like, ma’am?” Suja hesitated, glancing at her reflection before sighing. “Just reduce the length to my shoulders. That should be enough.” The stylist nodded and began cuttingSuja sat tensely as the stylist snipped away her long locks, reducing them to shoulder length.

She exhaled, thinking it was over, but as he ran the comb through her shortened hair, strands fell in alarming amounts. Clumps of hair littered the cape, her lap, the floor. Rohit and Anika watched silently as Suja’s expression shifted—shock, humiliation and tension. Her hands trembled as she touched her uneven, thinning hair. The mirror reflected not just her image, but the discomfort she had ignored for too long. She swallowed hard and looked at the stylist. “Remove everything. Shave it all off.” The stylist gave a knowing nod and switched on the clippers.

The loud buzz filled the salon as the machine touched her scalp, mowing away the remaining strands. Tufts of hair tumbled down, exposing more and more skin with each pass. The cool air kissed her scalp, sending shivers down her spine. Rohit and Anika held their breath as the stylist lathered her head with foam and carefully scraped away the last traces of hair. With each stroke of the razor, Suja felt lighter, freer. When it was done, she lifted her hand and hesitantly touched her smooth, bare scalp.

Anika smiled, placing a gentle hand on her mother’s freash bald head. Suja met her daughter’s gaze in the mirror. And for the first time, she truly did. That night, as Suja stood before the mirror, she traced the smoothness of her head with both hands. For years, she had tied her identity to her long hair. Now, she felt different—exposed, yet powerful. Anika and Rohit watched from the doorway, exchanging satisfied glances. Their plan had worked.
