As Beth looked for a parking spot at Southridge Mall, she couldn’t believe how much the mall had changed since she had been there.
By the time she found a spot, she was late to met her daughter for lunch.
Before she got out of her air conditioned car, she texted her daughter.
Much to her surprise, her daughter had eaten.
Her and her boyfriend went shopping.
When she exited her Mustang, she saw a girl with a buzz cut walking a cross the parking lot.
As she made her way towards the building, she wished she had shorter hair.
The heat had definitely got to her by the time she walked through the doors of mall.
Once she was in the mall, she realized she was in the area of the mall she wanted to be.
She was on the complete opposite side of the mall.
After the long walk though the heat, Beth just wanted to take a break before she started her next walk.
With out even thinking about it, she took a seat on a near by bench.
As she sat down on the black bench, she saw a woman walk into the barbershop that she was sitting in front of.
Beth text her daughter, as the woman talked to the barberette.
When she looked up from her phone, she saw the woman sit down in the barber chair closest to the entrance of the shop.
She didn’t think much of it, as she saw woman in their getting haircuts before.
Years ago, Beth took her son their for haircuts.
They stopped going to that shop, when they moved to West Allis.
Once the barberette had the woman caped, the barberette reached for her clippers.
At this point, Beth assumed the lady had an under cut or clippered nape.
Much to her surprise, the barberette put the clippers right in front of her forehead.
With out warning, the barberette pulled the clippers right down the center of her head.
Beth right to look away, but she found herself watching, the woman have her clipped down to almost nothing.
When the woman walked out the shop, she walked towards Beth.
She was directly in front of Beth, when she said “you could pull of a buzz cut”.
With out even thinking about it, Beth said “I’m not sure about that”.
Before the woman could respond to what Beth said, Beth said “I’m sorry, if saw me watching your haircut”.
The woman laughed, and then began to walk away.
As Beth watched her walk away, the woman rubbed her head.
Right after the woman did that, Beth got a text from her daughter.
Beth exchanged a few texts with daughter, and then got up from the bench.
Once Beth opened the exit door to the mall, the heat hit her like a ton of bricks.
She began to walk towards were she parked, when the barberette said “I can take you when I finish this cigarette”.
Beth looked over to she the barberette standing next to the building smoking a cigarette.
When they had eye to eye contact, Beth said “my husband would kill me, if I came home with a shaved head”.
After the barberette exhaled the hit she had in her lungs, she said “there is a wig shop in the mall”.
Much to the barberette surprise, Beth didn’t say anything.
She just stood there, and watched the barberette smoke.
Once the barberette took her last of the cigarette, she tossed it on the ground.
Right after she exhaled the hit, she said “let’s go”.
As her boot step on the cigarette butt, Beth began walking towards her.
Beth and her barberette walked though a steel door that took them into the back room of the barbershop.
Once they were in the back room of the barbershop, the barberette said “go have a seat in my chair”.
The barberette wanted to give Beth away to get out of this with out losing her hair.
Much to the barberette surprise Beth was sitting in her chair, when she walked out of the back room.
When the barberette got behind her chair, she said “my name is Samantha”.
As Samantha reached for a piece of tissue paper for Beth’s neck, Beth said “I’m Beth”.
Samantha stretch the piece of tissue paper in front of Beth’s neck, as she said “do you want to go as short as my previous client”.
It was secured to her neck, as she said “yes, that would be fine”.
A cape was tossed over Beth’s small body, as Samantha said “one number one buzz cut coming up”.
Once Beth was caped, Samantha reached for her clippers.
She began to oil her clippers, as she said “my 76 will make short work of your thick hair”.
As Samantha clipped on her clippers, she said “have you ever had clippers used on you before”.
Samantha got closer to Beth, as Beth said “just ones they use to clean up the hair line”.
Right before Samantha placed the clippers in front of her face, she said “this one is alot more powerful than those ones”.
Once the clippers were directly in front of Beth’s forehead, Samantha said “our you ready to lose some hair”.
Before Samantha pulled the clippers down the center of her head, Beth said “aren’t you going to cut the ponytail off first”.
Samantha nodded, and then said “I’ll try to take it off, as one big piece”.
Beth’s head got pushed forward, as Samantha pushed the clippers right down the middle of Beth’s head.
As Samantha moved the clippers back to the front of Beth’s head, she said “no turning back, now”.
Beth had a belt of stubble going down the center of her head, as she said “have you ever gone this short, Samantha”.
She started the second pass down Beth’s head, as she said “off course”.
The clippers were second belt of stubble, as Samantha said “the day I met my husband, he ran his A5 across my head”.
Samantha began her third pass a cross the top of Beth’s head, as Beth said “your husband is barber, as well”.
Right before the third pass ended, Samantha said “a female that works in a barbershop is known as a barberette”.
At this point, Beth had become concerned that she offended Samantha.
As Samantha tilted her to start working on the left side of head, Samantha said “he is no barber”.
The clippers began to separate hair from the left side of Beth’s head, as Samantha said “he lived in a rural area”.
Beth’s ear got pushed forward, as Samantha said “he was sick of people who ran out of gas, asking him for gas”.
She started her third pass on the left side of Beth’s head, as she said “he put up a sign that stated what he would trade his gas for”.
The final pass was started, when Samantha said “he was willing to trade a buzz cut for 2 gallons of gas”.
As Samantha turned the chair, Beth said “that is kind of a romantic story”.
When the chair was were Samantha wanted it, Beth said “he got to be your knight in shining armor”.
The clippers began separating hair from the right side of her head, as Samantha said “that one way to look at it, I guess”.
Beth’s right ear got pushed forward, as she said “is that what made you want to become a barberette”.
Samantha worked around Beth’s ear, as she “no”.
She took a brief pause, and then said “the public shaming I received didn’t make me want to go into this line of work.
Her ear was released, as she said “public shaming”.
The third pass was being started on the right side of her head, when Samantha said “he did it to me in his front yard. Passers by saw me. This neighbors took pics of me, and put it on social media”.
As Samantha made her final pass on the right side of her head, Beth said “was he aggressive about it”.
The chair turned, as Samantha said “he wasn’t nice about it”.
Samantha prepared to do Beth’s nape, as Beth said “that sounds kind of hot”.
She did her best, to grab all the head that was released from Beth’s head with one hand.
Beth’s head was forcefully moved, so that Samantha could better remove her nape hair.
As her head was forcefully moved, Samantha said “I can do rough”.
The clippers got driven up her nape, as Samantha said “when you come back for a trim, I’ll treat you like a military recruit getting his basic training cut”.
Samantha started the second pass up her nape, as Beth said “you promise”.
She laughed, and then her pass up Beth’s nape.
Right before she started the final pass, Samantha said “you got watchers just like the other woman had”.
Beth looked out towards the entrance to see her daughter and her boyfriend standing there.
Samantha quickly and forcefully put Beth’s head were she wanted it.
As she made her last pass, she said “who told you could your head”.
She was able to get it all off in one piece.
Once she showed it to Beth, Samantha said “do you want to keep it”.
At this point, Beth just wanted to get up and go to her daughter.
She wanted to try to explain what happened.
In an effort to get the haircut over, she said “no”.
Once Beth said that, Samantha put it on her vanity.
After the hair was on the vanity, Samantha turned the chair towards the entrance.
When Amanda, Beth’s daughter, realized that her mom, she dropped her drink.
The plastic cup didn’t break, and her boyfriend picked it up.
The cup was in his hand, as Amanda started walking towards her mom.
Samantha was switching the clippers head, as the couple walked towards the barbershop.
Right before they walked into the shop, the clippers came to life.
Samantha forcefully titled her head.
As the clippers met the stubble on the right side of her head, Samantha said “I’ll do the sides and back with a 000, and then shave your hairlines with a straight razor”.
Her ear was getting pushed toward, as her daughter said “what is going on here, mother”.
When Beth didn’t answer, Samantha said “mom is getting a good summer haircut”.
Samantha was making her third pass on the right side of Beth’s head, when Amanda said “a cut like yours would have been a better choice for my mother”.
Samantha was sporting a chin length angle bob. It was obvious that her nape was clippered.
As Samantha tilted Beth’s head forward, she said “matching cuts for mom and daughter would be so boring”.
She drove the clippers up Beth’s nape, as she said “it’s not the 1950’s”.
The third pass on her nape was almost completed, when Amanda said “what made you want to do this to yourself”.
Right before the final pass on the nape started, Beth said “leave me alone, Amanda”.
The chair began to turn, as Amanda said “I’m not going to abandon you in your time of need”.
Samantha started working on the left side of her head, when Beth said “there are no issues that need to be addressed”.
Beth’s ear got moved forward, as Amanda said “clearly, something is going on if you are having your head shaved”.
As Samantha flipped off the clippers, she said “mom was only going to get a buzz cut, but I can change it to head shave if you want”.
The clippers were securely on their hook, when Samantha said “do you want me to run the razor over everything or just the hairlines”.
Beth looked at Samantha though the mirror, and said “the cut is fine how it is”.
Once Beth said that, Samantha reclined her chair back.
As Samantha went to get a hot towel for Beth’s face, she said “it is only going to be a few more minutes”.
When she put the hot towel over Beth’s face, she said “I just have to wash her hair, and you all you will be good to go”.
Samantha began to wash Beth’s remaining hair and scalp, as Amanda took pics with her phone.
The wash was almost done, when Amanda said “do you realize how ridiculous you look, right now”.
Once the wash was completed, Beth quickly got up from the chair.
As Beth walked to payment area of the barbershop, Amanda said “I always knew there would be a time when our roles in the relationship would change”.
She took a brief pause, and then said “I would never have thought it would have been this soon”.
Right after Amanda said that, Samantha said “it will be $32, today”.
Beth quickly handed her debit card to Samantha.
As the transaction was going though, Amanda said “I think it would be best if Bo drove the Mustang back to the house, and you ride with me out to Rogers”.
Before Beth could comment on what Amanda said, Samantha said “my guy’s name is Bo, too”.
Beth was handed the paper for her to sign, as Bo said “I can’t remember ever meeting another Bo”.
As Beth handed Samantha the paper, she said “maybe, you all should all have lunch together”.
Once the paper was in Samantha’s hand, Beth tried to leave the barbershop.
She was about a foot away from being outside the shop, when Amanda said “give Bo your keys”.
Beth made eye to eye contact with her daughter, and then said “I’ll shoot you both, before I let him drive my Mustang”.
They didn’t try to stop Beth was getting to her car.
Amanda and Bo quickly found a security guard, and told him what was going on
