AUTHOR NOTE: this is a choose your own adventure story with six different endings. I also experimented with AI images for the first time which I have mixed emotions about  Enjoy!

As with many of you reading, my hair fetish began as a child. After mom died, dad would take me and my brother to the cheapest barbershop in the area. I grew up getting short uneven bowl cuts in an old-fashioned barbershop where I was the only girl I ever saw in the barber chair. This went on into high school until I got a job and could afford to pay for my own haircuts.

The humiliation of getting my haircut in a barbershop, and the teasing from other kids for my blunt cut red bowl cut with shaved sides gave rise to my raging hair fetish that I have dubbed Miss Hyde. It is a never-ending battle with her for control of my body, and specifically my fiery red hair.

I want to grow my hair long in fashionable styles while Miss Hyde strives for the uneasiness and humiliation we experienced as a child. I appease Miss Hyde with YouTube videos, stories from sites like this one, and by occasionally stalking new barbershops to watch haircuts in progress. But sometimes Miss Hyde wants more. It is at these times that my hair is at risk.

The last time she took control it was after we had bet on whether a pretty barberette would offer to cut our hair when we walked in after she had turned off the open sign for the night. I lost the bet with Miss Hyde and under our bet I had to ask the barberette to cut it shorter two times. I walked out with a mid skin fade and just enough hair to brush forward.

Since that time, I have managed to keep Miss Hyde in check and as a result my hair is now down to my bra strap. I have not stepped into a barbershop for four years, but I can sense that Miss Hyde is craving a return.

And my instincts were spot on.  It was a lazy Saturday afternoon, and I was on my second Chardonnay out on the sidewalk patio of a local bistro when my alter ego Miss Hyde had an idea.

“Hey Jackie, how about we play a little game to see if you go into that barbershop across the street and get a haircut?”

“Go on, I’m listening”, at this point it was the alcohol talking.

“Pull up a dice app on your phone and pick the two dice option. First roll is how many times you have to roll. So if you roll a five, you have to shake five times to see if you have to get a haircut. If you get a two which reminds me of a clean-shaven bald head, or a twelve which is boxy like a flattop, that means you have to go in and get a haircut. We then roll again to see what haircut you get, but we can roll for that when the time comes. And if you roll 2 or 12 for the number of tries it’s an automatic haircut. What do you say?”

Feeling the buzz of the wine, and a twinge in my core just from risking my long fiery red hair, I agreed. I unlocked my phone and opened the dice app. I rolled an eight. If I can safely avoid a 2 or 12 eight times, I get to keep all my hair. My thumb shook a little as I tapped my thumb to roll. First roll safe, second roll safe. I may make it through this with all my hair.

I looked at the barber pole spinning across the street like a lighthouse beacon warning me what awaited me. I imagined my self rising and walking across the street, entering the shop, and waiting my turn for some yet to be determined haircut. My heartbeat was up and my breathing shallow with the anticipation of what was to come. I took a gulp of wine and tried to calm my breathing. Third try, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh. I was down to my last roll and filling the thrill of each roll between my thighs   Last roll, a three. No haircut today.

Even though Miss Hyde had lost, she had given me a thrill I hadn’t experienced in a while. On the way home we were coming upon the military base when Miss Hyde proposed we stop at one of the barbershops near the base and play our little game again. I had to admit the thrill was intoxicating as was the wine and so I took the off-ramp and pulled into the parking lot for a large old-fashioned barbershop I had driven by in the past.

Time to roll again. Eleven. Yikes. I could feel the arousal blooming again. First roll was a three. Ten more to go. Snake eyes! Oh fuck! Some lucky barber in there is going to get me in their chair. But doing what?

“Ok Miss Hyde, how do we determine the haircut?”

“Simple, with the dice again. Roll one die:

6 = request same haircut as their last customer

5 = we look at the haircut poster on the wall and roll to see what row and what column to pick your cut

4 = tell the barber you want it short, then ask for it shorter two times

3 = a good old barber bowl cut just like daddy used to make us wear

2 = you ask for the haircut he has always wanted to give a woman but never gotten a chance to do

1 = cue ball, total head shave

Are you ready to see what fate awaits your hair inside? Let ‘er roll!”

I thought about my options. Several of these I had used before in barbershops, with a few new ones thrown in to boot. I’m not sure I was rooting for any of them but was definitely rooting against a one. Here goes nothing I thought as I tapped the screen to roll the die.

(Roll a die and select the number you rolled to see what happens next to Jackie (or just pick the one that excites you most))

The die rolled around on Jackie’s screen then settled on:
