This is my first story. Yes, the story and images are AI generated (Some of the AI images have hilarious issues with them). This story was mainly me trying to figure out how to utilize AI to do the work. I have some much more in depth stories that I want to try, but had to start with something easy. Let me know what you think.

Gwen and Ryan’s Unforgettable Makeover

The story begins on a busy Saturday afternoon. Gwen and Ryan were wandering through the bustling local mall, hand-in-hand. Ryan, standing at an athletic 6 feet, was carrying a few shopping bags, wearing a casual black t-shirt and jeans that complemented his tapered skin fade haircut. Gwen, stunning at 5 foot 9 with her long, wavy chestnut-colored hair highlighted throughout, was wearing a tight-fitting green crop top and skinny jeans, paired with sturdy light brown boots. They were casually browsing the store windows, enjoying their afternoon together.

G&R1

Gwen’s eyes caught the modern facade of a salon named “Hair for the Ages.” The bright white walls and sleek, large rectangular mirrors visible through the front window were inviting.

Gwen stopped and turned to Ryan. “Hey, honey, your birthday is coming up soon, and I really want to get my hair done so that it looks extra good for your big day. Do you mind if we pop in?”

“Of course not, let’s do it,” Ryan replied with a smile, ushering her toward the entrance.

They walked into the bright, modern salon and were immediately greeted by Stacy, a stylist. Stacy was friendly, with very curly blonde hair tied in a small bun, revealing a short buzzed nape.

Stacy led them back to her station and asked Gwen, “What are we doing for you today?”

Gwen began to explain about Ryan’s birthday and how she wanted to look special for him. But before she could finish, Ryan stepped in.

Ryan Steps In

“Stacy, I know exactly what I want her to have,” Ryan announced firmly. He pointed to Stacy’s own buzzed haircut. “Give her an undercut, just like yours.”

G&R2

Gwen stared at Ryan, her mouth slightly agape in utter shock. Her long, beautiful waves—the ones she had just said she wanted to look special—were about to be buzzed off. The contrast between her slender face and Stacy’s bold, short style in the mirror was terrifying.

Gwen tried to protest. “Ryan, no! I can’t do that. That’s too short!”

Ryan leaned closer, reminding her, “Gwen, you said you were doing this for my birthday. This is what I want.”

Gwen looked in the mirror, her green eyes tearing up. She saw Ryan’s determined expression and Stacy waiting patiently. Reluctantly, she nodded. “Okay. Listen to Ryan, Stacy.”

Stacy, looking professional, fastened a light purple cape around Gwen, covering her green crop top. She then sectioned off the top mass of Gwen’s wavy chestnut hair, securing it upward.

The sound of the clippers switching on was loud in the bright salon. Stacy held the clippers poised near Gwen’s nape. The long, sectioned hair was held clearly above the area Stacy was about to buzz, showing the dramatic change that was seconds away.

G&R3

Ryan watched with satisfaction as the first swath of hair fell. When Stacy finished buzzing the entire lower half of Gwen’s head, Ryan walked over and inspected the neat undercut.

“Perfect,” Ryan said. Then, looking at the long chestnut waves remaining on top, he made his next move. “Now, Stacy, chop off that ponytail. Leave all the hair about 6 inches long.”

The Makeover Has Only Begun

Gwen gasped, horror written on her face. “6 inches? Ryan, why?”

“Because,” Ryan replied casually, “I want you to have a short perm style.”

Gwen started crying, silent tears streaming down her face, but she nodded to Stacy. “Do it.”

Stacy quickly gathered the remaining long hair into a ponytail and severed it with sharp shears, handing the long lock to Ryan. She then wet Gwen’s hair down, reducing the length until it was about 6 inches all over. The dramatic loss of length was immediately apparent.

Stacy then rolled over a metal cart holding trays of small, thin perm rods. These rods were extremely small, promising a very tight, intense curl pattern. Stacy began sectioning Gwen’s remaining 6 inches of wet, short hair and methodically rolling the tiny rods into it, ensuring the final look would be extremely tight. Ryan watched, looking very happy, while Gwen looked utterly defeated.

G&R4

With Gwen’s head covered in the tiny rods and the perm solution applied, Stacy set a timer. Gwen was left to sit under a hooded dryer, silently crying, mourning the loss of her long hair and dreading the tight perm.

Ryan’s Secret

While Gwen was processing, Ryan saw an opportunity. He told Stacy he needed to step out for a moment. He walked quickly through the mall, heading directly for a high-end jewelry store near the salon.

Inside the quiet, luxurious store, Ryan stood at a glass counter. The bright, focused lighting overhead highlighted the sparkle of the diamonds. He was looking intently at a beautiful engagement ring in a small velvet box, smiling slightly. This makeover was part of a bigger plan.

G&R5

After selecting the perfect ring, Ryan headed back to Hair for the Ages.

When Ryan returned to the salon, Gwen was finished processing. The rods had been removed, and her hair had been neutralized and rinsed. Stacy was leading Gwen back to the styling chair.

Gwen looked in the mirror, and the reflection that met her was shocking. Her long chestnut waves were gone. In their place was a mass of tight, voluminous, 6-inch curls, starting immediately above the neat, buzzed undercut Stacy had created. The drastic volume and texture were shocking. Gwen touched the tight coils, her hand trembling, unable to process how different she looked.

G&R6

The Final Hair Insult

Stacy started drying the perm, creating a massive halo of tight curls around Gwen’s head. Ryan watched closely, smiling. “Looking good, Stacy. Now, for the final touch. Cut the top hair into a very short curly bowl cut, and make sure that undercut is really exposed.”

Gwen looked up, horrified. She knew she couldn’t stop it now. Stacy, completely professional, adjusted her shears. She began cutting, shaping the voluminous tight curls into a precise, very short bowl shape, leaving the buzzed nape completely visible below the textured edge.

Gwen stared at the short, tightly permed bowl cut in the mirror, stunned. Ryan was beaming, touching the exposed skin of her nape. The sheer contrast between her slender features and the bold, tight hairstyle was almost unbelievable. Gwen just sat in the chair, resigned to her fate.

Finally, the cut was complete. Stacy removed the cape, revealing Gwen’s skinny jeans and the edge of the tight green crop top below the extremely short, curly permed bowl cut. Her buzzed undercut was dramatically exposed.

Stacy handed Gwen a hand mirror, and Gwen stared at the reflection, utterly confused. The change was so extreme she didn’t know how to feel.

Ryan Pops the Question

Suddenly, Ryan moved. He dropped to one knee beside her chair, reaching into his pocket and pulling out the small velvet box.

G&R7

“Gwen,” Ryan said, holding up the sparkling diamond, “I know this was a lot, but I wanted us to start our next chapter together, completely fresh. You look incredible. This is the ultimate look for you, and I love you. Will you marry me?”

Gwen’s mind was spinning. She was torn between slapping him for the forced haircut and the overwhelming emotion of the proposal. Stacy, behind Ryan, had her hands over her mouth, wide brown eyes watching with visible shock at the entire scene unfolding. Gwen looked from the ring to Ryan’s loving expression.

“Do you really like it, Ryan?” Gwen whispered, wiping away a tear.

“I love it,” Ryan replied sincerely.

Gwen finally nodded. “Yes, Ryan. I will marry you.”

Gwen stood up, still feeling the new lightness of her short hair and the coolness on her buzzed nape. They paid Stacy, thanking her for the dramatic makeover, and left Hair for the Ages.

As they walked away from the salon and down the bright mall corridor, Gwen was holding Ryan’s hand. Suddenly, Ryan leaned over and kissed her exposed buzzed nape.

Gwen reacted with a look of unexpected, extreme pleasure and surprise, her green eyes wide and a slight flush on her slender face. It was a sensation she had never felt before.

G&R8

“Ryan,” Gwen said, still recovering from the electricity of the nape kiss and touching the unfamiliar stubble, “I am willing to go along with your hair desires… but please, you have to tell me beforehand what you want so I can prepare myself.”

Ryan just laughed and pulled his new fiancée close, the short curls of her bowl cut brushing against his neck and chin as they walked out into the mall crowd.

  1. It’s really great that the images come together into a story. The generator is good, and the images look realistic.
I would probably fix technical AI flaws like missing reflections, but honestly, no one really notices those. However, AI mistakes that contradict the text are probably worth correcting. For example, the heroine’s curly hair in one image is much longer than described in the text.

The story itself is very simple, but the characters could still be more complex. Right now they feel quite flat: Ryan is cunning, Gwen is scared, and there are no character arcs.

Here’s how I would improve it:

Gwen walks into the salon, making Ryan wait. It’s supposed to be just a regular haircut, and he’s annoyed.

Gwen wants to please Ryan and offers him to choose her hairstyle. Perhaps out of spite, he asks for a haircut like the hairdresser’s; Gwen reluctantly agrees.

During the process, Ryan gets carried away and asks for it to be cut even shorter. Gwen is frightened but can’t say no, since it was her idea.

Ryan realizes he likes short hair, and that Gwen is willing to do a lot for him out of love, so he runs off to get a ring.

Gwen is very upset, but Ryan’s proposal makes her happy again. She sees how serious he is and is ready to adapt to his tastes.

From a dramatic standpoint, this already works well.

Also, on this site people always describe the characters’ appearance in great detail. Some details should usually be left out so the reader’s imagination can do a bit of the work. But in an illustrated story, this feels even more unnecessary.

    Sorry for being pedantic—keep writing!

  2. TheInvisibleMan,
Thanks for the feedback. I saw a lot of the issues you describe as I was putting this together. This was a fairly rapid fire story that came together in 2ish hours. Some of the story ideas I have rolling around in my head are potentially multi-episodic with character and relationship arcs, etc.
Thanks again for the feedback and I will make sure to consider these points in the future.

  3. Good first effort with using images to accompany your story. It’s a tricky process to begin with, but you’ll find that you pick up better ways of getting the AI to align with how you envisioned it to look.
