The silence that settled over the room was palpable. I was so captivated by what they had done to Shivani that I did not notice when Ellie had come up to me and whispered, “Did you enjoy seeing your friend get shorn?.Well, it’s your turn next.Don’t even think about resisting, just be a good girl like your friend and accept your fate.”  Her words rang in my ears like thunder, slicing through the air as I nodded without looking at her and walked towards Lisa.Without any resistance on my part, Lisa draped the cape around me and fastened it securely at my neck before adjusting the clippers to the required length.

Lisa glanced at Ellie, silently asking for direction. Ellie smiled and responded, “It’s all up to you, Lisa.” A broad smile spread across Lisa’s face. She leaned in closer and whispered, “You’re mine now, pet. Let’s get rid of this long hair and give you a nice short style for the summer.”A shiver cascaded down my back as I heard this.I hadn’t had short hair since high school, and now I was letting a strange lady take control and cut it without putting up a fight.

Lisa styled my hair in the same way she had done with Shivani’s; she separated a portion of it from the top, leaving the lower portion loose.then she forced my head down and ran clippers from my nape to crown I closed my eyes as now there was no turning back I  was at full mercy of this dominant lady.Clipper buzzing continued all around my head. Once done, she removed the clips and allowed my hair to fall down over the shaved portion. She stepped in front of me and used a brush to style my hair forward, covering my eyes, then began cutting from left to right just above my eyebrows, creating bangs.With measured precision, she continued cutting my hair in a straight line two inches above my ears on all sides, giving me a classic bowl cut.

She then inspected her work to make sure that the cut was even and straight before she took off my cape and gave me a mirror so I could see my new style.I couldn’t believe the person staring back at me in the mirror was actually me, before I left home, I noticed in lobby mirror my long black hair which had been now chopped into a bowl cut. Lisa came over, she could see the tears welling up in my eyes. “Don’t cry, pet,” she said with a smile, “you look absolutely lovely.” Before I knew it, her lips were on mine, and I melted into her embrace. It was my first kiss from another woman, but something about it felt right. I didn’t want it to end.

Ellie and Shivani smiled at us when our kiss ended. Shivani then walked over to me and said, “Disha, you look great with that haircut.” I nervously ran my fingers through the shaved part of my hair and replied, “I don’t know, Shivani. I might break down later because of what I have done.” She laughed and said, “At least you still have more hair than me!”

Lisa zipped up her bag and prepared to depart turned to me, a sly grin creeping onto her face. “Meet me tonight at 8pm at Sue Ellen’s, “Don’t be late.” ” she said firmly. I replied submissively, “Yes, ma’am. Thank you for the haircut.”

Ellie and Shivani flashed playful grins at me as they said, “Someone’s got a date tonight!” Blushing, I replied that I had to leave. As I walked back to my apartment, my hand kept returning to the freshly-shaven patch of skin on the back of my neck. I wondered what I had committed myself to, and how I would explain this new haircut to my coworkers the next day.
