Prologue
The rollercoaster of trying to find a partner had become a relentless, dizzying ride that I desperately wanted to get off. Every connection, every date, every goodbye, had left me more bruised and disoriented than the last.
I had tried to convince myself I did not need anyone else, and that I was perfectly complete on my own. But the hollow ache in my chest, the quiet hum of loneliness, always betrayed the lie. I yearned for connection, and to find someone with whom to share my life. It could be a man or woman, as I truly did not mind. I just needed someone.
My Dating Experience
I had churned through dating apps, an infinite gallery of curated smiles and half-truths. I had ventured out on blind dates set up by well-meaning friends, enduring polite conversation and forced laughter over lukewarm coffee. None of them lasted more than one or two meetings, a handful of hours before the inevitable farewell,
At first, I had blamed the candidates, then the apps, then the universe. But eventually, the blame began to curl inward, a bitter whisper in my ear asking if it was me. I did not think I was the issue, not truly. I believed I was a kind person, loyal, with a decent sense of humour. Perhaps I just chose unwisely, or maybe I did not describe myself properly. Or worse, perhaps I unconsciously misrepresented myself, offering an illusion of Melissa that was distinct from the reality. It was dispiriting beyond measure, a slow, soul-crushing grind.
My dating profiles, I thought, were accurate, if a little idealised. My photos usually featured me in one of my characteristic floral short dresses, revealing a flash of leg, a hint of cleavage, and a confident smile. Thick blonde hair, my pride and joy that I had spent years cultivating, cascaded down my back, long enough to sit on, always worn loose. It was my signature, a golden curtain that flowed with every movement, catching the light.
But even my unique hair, it turned out, was a point of contention. Increasingly, dates were not content to simply say goodbye and keep their reasons to themselves but felt the need to provide “feedback”. It became a recurring theme. One guy had ventured “your dresses are a bit too short and daring”, while another said, “your outfits are a little racy”. I was twenty-three, so what did they expect?
Another said to my face, with a condescending chuckle, “your hair’s a bit too much … far too long”. Another ventured that it was “hard to imagine that in a professional setting”. What professional setting did he have in mind, I wondered? I was not applying for a job, but I was trying to find a partner who would love me … “just as I am”!
I felt I simply could not win. Every facet of myself, it seemed, was open to public commentary, and deemed somehow inadequate.
A Light in the Dark
I was about to admit defeat. I was going to unsubscribe from every dating service and retreat into my carefully constructed bubble of solitude. Then I stumbled upon a non-mainstream contact site. It was niche, quirky, and utterly unlike the sterile, conventional platforms. And there, amidst the eclectic profiles, I found her.
Mia!
Her profile picture was a soft-focus enigma, a hint of a smile, eyes that held untold depths. We started chatting, tentatively at first, then with an intensity that sucked the air from my lungs. She was wonderful. We spoke for ages, sometimes late into the night, our conversations flowing effortlessly from surface pleasantries to the deepest corners of our souls.
It felt like Mia understood me, completely understood me, in a way no one ever had. Every word she typed, every thought she shared, resonated perfectly with my own. We were totally in alignment, completely, in every conceivable way. I fell under her spell wholeheartedly, a willing captive in her glorious web.
My heart, long dormant, pulsed with a fervent hope I had not felt in years. I was desperate to meet her. The remote connection was intoxicating, but I craved the tangible, the real. I wanted to feel her touch, see her smile in person, hear her voice unfiltered by speakers.
Mia, sensing my eagerness, suggested we meet. But there was a precursor. ‘I have arranged something for you,’ she had typed, her words a playful mystery. ‘A little pampering session. My treat. To make you truly suitable for our first meeting.’
I was a bit put out, I admit. My internal monologue, ever vigilant, bristled. Suitable? What did she mean by “suitable”, I asked myself. I scrub up perfectly fine, thank you very much, I wanted to tell her! But the desire to finally meet her, to finally physically realise this connection that felt so profound, overshadowed any burgeoning resentment.
I agreed, albeit with a slight huff, but would allow nothing to stand in the way of meeting Mia.
A Journey for Pampering
The day arrived. A sleek black taxi pulled up outside my building precisely on time, sent by Mia. It felt extravagant, a touch of luxury that smoothed over my earlier apprehension. The uncommunicative driver simply confirmed he knew where to go, so I settled back and watched the world go by.
The journey itself was peculiar. We drove for what felt like an eternity, winding through unfamiliar streets, past industrial estates, then into increasingly narrow residential back lanes. It took an hour, and with each turn, I felt a growing sense of displacement. There was no way I could have ever found the place on my own again, nor would I have wanted to. It was a place designed for everyone to forget.
The taxi finally stopped in what looked like a forgotten alleyway. The building was nondescript, brick-built, with grime clinging to its facade. Above a heavy, unmarked door, a battered, old-fashioned salon sign hung awry, barely decipherable. The pale words – Salon de Coi… – gave a crumb of comfort that I was in the right place, but the remaining letters had faded away. I rang the intercom, a small, cold button set into the wall.
‘Yes?’ rang out a monosyllabic question from the tinny speaker.
I announced myself. ‘Hello. I am Melissa, and -’
Instantly, the heavy door clicked open, and two pairs of hands eagerly ushered me inside, not by a receptionist as I expected, but by two young women. They wore identical skimpy black leather dresses, their hair scraped back into severe, high ponytails that defied gravity. Their smiles were remarkably wide, revealing perfect, white teeth.
The door latched shut behind me with a heavy, metallic thud that echoed in the small, dimly lit lobby. It was unsettling.
An Unexpected Reception
In the tiny lobby, to one side of a heavy internal door, stood a lectern. Polished dark wood, positioned as if barring the entrance to a top restaurant. On the lectern, a large, pristine document lay open and behind it stood the two women.
‘I am Colette,’ announced one of the women in a seductive flowing accent that, at the time, I could not quite place.
‘I am Celine,’ said the other, in an identical tone. They could have been sisters, even twins.
The two women, their voices unnervingly synchronised, intently held my gaze. ‘Melissa, are you here of your own free will?’
‘Er, yes,’ I said, a little confused, but eager to get on with proceedings.
‘And do you understand,’ they chorused, their eyes glinting, ‘why you are here, and accept that you must follow the session through to its conclusion? Until you are suitable for Mia?’
That word again. I paused, a flicker of unease passing through me. What exactly would follow? But my desire to meet Mia, to get this bizarre ritual out of the way, pushed the doubt aside. ‘Yes, I guess so,’ I replied, trying for a nonchalant tone.
They gestured to the document. ‘Please sign here.’ They pointed to a bold, underlined section.
‘What is this?’ I sensibly asked, leaning closer.
‘Oh, just a formality, Melissa,’ Colette said, her smile unchanging. ‘A waiver,’ recited Celine. ‘You are, of course, free to read it.’
I tried to study it, my eyes straining to scan the dense, small print in the dim lighting, but my mind was already racing, preoccupied with Mia. I skimmed parts of it: “Full and irrevocable consent … change agent … personal service … no liability …”. It was generic legal jargon, I assumed, designed to protect the salon. I just wanted to get this over with, so I picked up the pen and scrawled my name.
As my pen lifted, the two women looked at each other, their smiles widening into identical, chilling grins. ‘We will now commence, Melissa,’ they chorused, a wave of cold dread washing over me.
Preparing My Pampering
They opened the heavy wooden inner door, ushering me through and, momentarily, I could see only darkness beyond. As the door closed behind us, bright even lighting filled the room that we had entered.
Before I could take in my surroundings or even voice a protest, they were on me. My coat, my bag, my shoes were all whisked away with unsettling efficiency. Then, without a word, they began to undress me.
‘Hey!’ I exclaimed, crossing my arms over my chest instinctively.
Celine responded to my grumbling with a dismissive wave towards a large, floor-to-ceiling mirror that dominated one wall. My reflection stared back, a vulnerable stranger now, stripped to her underwear by these two strange women. Without a word, they covered the mirror with a large cloth.
Colette held up a scrap of black leather and laces masquerading as corset. Replacing my bra, she pushed the skimpy garment against my chest, while Celine pulled the laces tight from behind. Colette slipped a black leather miniskirt around my waist. It was so short that I had belts that were wider.
Humiliation burned in my cheeks as they posed me in front of the mirror – arranging and rearranging my loose long hair, even asking me to shake it at one point – as if I was an exhibit on display.
Finished with parading me, they guided me, or rather, pushed me, towards a large chair in the centre of the room. It was unlike anything I had ever seen, a monstrous hybrid that was part ornate throne, part old-fashioned barber’s chair, and part, terrifyingly, something out of a horror film. Heavy leather straps, thick and worn, dangled from its armrests and seat. The chrome on its frame was dull, scratched, bearing the undeniable marks of countless previous uses. A shiver ran down my spine.
‘Sit!’ Colette commanded, gesturing towards the menacing contraption.
I hesitated. ‘Now!’ Celine emphasised, nudging me firmly from behind, leaving me with no choice.
The moment my body met the cold leather, they moved. In a terrifyingly swift motion, Colette secured my wrists, while Celine fastened my ankles, then both tightened a waist strap. They pulled my bindings taut, biting into my skin, immobilising me completely. I tried to pull free, to twist, but my limbs were as good as cemented in place.
Colette fitted a padded leather collar around my neck and, using this, Celine pinned my head back against the headrest. I could not move an inch.
‘This is to keep you safe and protected while you are in our care … but we do hope you are comfortable?’ Colette purred, her voice dripping with mock concern. Celine giggled, a high-pitched, childish sound.
I contemplated what pampering treatment might require such unorthodox preparation. I opened my mouth to complain, as anyone would. But Colette wagged a threatening finger, silencing me instantly.
‘There is no need for you to speak, Melissa. We are very experienced,’ Colette whispered, as if disguising her words from unseen people.
‘And we will provide you with a gag if you become too noisy,’ Celine added enthusiastically, in the same measured tone.
‘But you can express your discontent, of course. And you are welcome to cry if you wish.’ Colette delivered those the last words with a chilling emphasis, suggesting a promise of suffering to come. My heart hammered against my ribs, a trapped bird desperate for escape.
Controlling My Pampering
Before I could even process that sinister threat, Colette pressed a cold, slick object between my legs. My eyes widened in alarm as it began to hum, a gentle, resonant thrum that vibrated up through my body. Bizarrely, it could only be a vibrator as she firmly pushed it upwards, allowing it to nest high up between my thighs.
‘That will help you enjoy the process and for Mia to confirm that you are suitable,’ Celine explained, accompanied by a smirk that twisted the woman’s lips into a grotesque caricature of amusement. The indignity of it, the sheer, brazen violation, left me speechless.
It was then that they finally moved to my hair. My glorious, butt-length blonde hair. Initially, they took turns at brushing it, marvelling at its length, thickness, and lustre. Then they moved their fingers through it, rubbed it against each, and had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
‘Excuse me!’ I felt compelled to admonish them about their extended provocative behaviour. That drew titters of amusement from them both, but at least they stopped.
However, after pausing for only a brief time, the two women began pulling my tresses painfully hard, into an impossibly tight ponytail resembling their own. They yanked at my scalp, making my eyes water.
‘No!’ I protested, my voice strained. ‘I hate ponytails! I always wear my hair loose!’
Each time I complained, pleading desperately, one of them would tug it again, like a curious game of dare. A game for which I did not know the rules, and a game I could not win.
I changed my approach. ‘I want to wear it loose and have it look its best – look suitable – for Mia. In all our conversations, she has said she loves my long hair, especially when it is loose.’
They just laughed, a cruel, shared mirth that bounced off the sterile walls. ‘Mia likes ponytails,’ Colette refuted. Tears pricked at my eyes from the sheer pain of them forcing it to be tighter still.
‘Please,’ I choked, a sob catching in my throat. ‘If you must … but … but not so tight … please,’ I implored. ‘It hurts,’ I whined.
With a relentless enthusiasm they continued to yank my hair. Sometimes pausing, then unpredictably jerking it with renewed vigour, the uncertainty making it feel even worse.
Nothing I said, convinced them to stop. I took a deep breath. ‘Cut it! If Mia thinks I will look suitable,’ I said, spitting the word, ‘with all my hair scraped away from my face, then you may as well just chop it all off … now … please!’
The words were torn from me, an instinctive plea for relief. It was a gambit. I was confident that Mia would still prefer me to have long hair, so I forced their hand to make them stop. They paused, looking at each other, a silent communication passing between them, before their lips curled into identical, satisfied smiles.
‘As you wish, Melissa,’ Colette smirked. Lowering her voice, she added, ‘you have done extremely well to hold out for so long. Mia will be pleased.’
Rather than a fabric scrunchie, they secured the base of my ponytail with a scary looking metal ring with cogs and dials on the side. They turned the dials on the contraption and that ratcheted the cogs, pulling my hair tauter than it had ever been, locking it securely in place. No longer was the tugging of my hair unpredictable, it was constant, uncomfortably so.
Then, a click, and the whirring of electric clippers filled the air.
Continuing My Pampering
The sound of hairclippers, so mundane in a hairdressing salon, here was a harbinger of horror. The two women were not prepared to simply cut off my hair, but they wished to savour the process.
Celine lifted my ponytail to one side while Colette placed the blade of the hairclippers above the metal ring. Then, slowly, deliberately, she began cutting through my bountiful tresses. I could feel the vibrating blade edging against my hair, each severed strand a tiny death.
‘Marvellous!’ Celine praised, vividly describing it as it happened. ‘Your gorgeous hair is falling away like a knife through butter, Melissa!’
The woman’s cruel running commentary ended abruptly when I felt the heavy mass of my ponytail finally, sickeningly, come away in Celine’s hands. The device they had used to secure my hair maintained the painful tension on my scalp, but my ponytail was free, and they held it up as if it was a magnificent trophy.
Celine victoriously brandished it towards me, then, to my utter revulsion, one of them used it as a whip, flicking the long strands against my bare arm, sending shivers of disgust and horror through me. My beautiful hair, reduced to a plaything. Tiring of that, they eventually hung it up from a conveniently placed hook next to the mirror.
‘Mia likes ponytails,’ Colette reminded me, even though that went against what I believed of Mia, ‘and she will absolutely love that one of yours!’
A short ponytail emerged from the device they had used to secure my hair before cutting it. They amused themselves briefly by flicking around the ridiculously small stump, before releasing my hair from its constraints.
But then the clippers whirred again. Colette attacked the clumps of hair still clinging to my crown, buzzing them down to stubble. I tried to protest, to scream, but my throat felt constricted, raw with unshed tears. Without warning, she moved the blade to my eyebrows … but paused.
‘No! Stop!’ I shrieked, a guttural, animal sound of pure terror.
I had crossed their boundaries with my outburst and the two women reacted instantly. A flash of red, and then Celine forced my mouth wide, and Colette shoved a thick, rubber ball into my mouth, stretching my lips painfully. It was a gag, a crude, dehumanising object that silenced me completely. My protests were only muffled grunts, impotent struggles against the straps that held me fast. It was incredibly uncomfortable, the ball pressing against my palate, the straps digging into the corners of my mouth.
Pausing My Pampering
Rather than continue with their shameful action they stood back and watched me keenly, silently. Each second that passed increased the humiliation I felt as I stared back.
After what felt like eternity, Colette leaned close, her breath hot on my ear. ‘Will you calm down, Melissa? Will you behave and allow us to continue with the task Mia has given us to do for you?’
I tried to nod or speak my acceptance, but my restraints thwarted my efforts. I blinked my “yes” frantically, tears streaming down my face, blurring my vision. They watched me for a moment, then, slowly, they removed the gag. My jaw ached, and my mouth felt dry.
With two quick passes of the hairclippers my eyebrows were mere shadows. Using thick, cool, foam, they lathered my head and my eyebrows. Then, with a chilling precision, they took a straight razor. I felt the cold passage of the blade against my scalp, the soft, whispering drag as it removed the last vestiges of my hair. They meticulously shaved bare my eyebrows, too.
I cried then, openly, uncontrollably, the tears tracing paths through the lather. They made fun of my upset, their cruel laughter echoing in the small room. ‘Oh, look at Melissa, so sad! But do not worry, as it is just another step to determine if you are suitable for Mia.’
When the last hair of my hair was gone, they did not stop. They produced a bottle of a thick waxy serum, rubbing it over my whole head with soft cloths. Then, Colette and Celine enthusiastically polished my scalp until the bare surface shone with an unnatural gleam under the harsh salon lights. All the time, they laughed, telling me how “polished” I appeared, how “smooth” and “perfect”. It was like being an inanimate object, a doll, buffed to a perverse shine.
Finally, with a flourish, Colette whisked away the cover on the large mirror. And I saw her. My own reflection. And it was a stranger. My head was perfectly bald, gleaming under the lights. And my eyebrows, gone. My face stripped bare of the natural frame I had always known. I was momentarily shocked, utterly horrified by the alien creature staring back at me. This was not Melissa. This was not me.
But then, the deep, persistent hum of the vibrating device between my thighs seemed to intensify. A wave of heat, of involuntary sensation, washed through me. And in that moment, in that horrifying, disorienting instant, something shifted.
The shock, the disgust, the despair, all blurred, dulled by the relentless, pleasurable hum. The vibration, so degrading moments before, was now conditioning me, a perverse Pavlovian response, to … to love how I looked. My mind, assaulted and vulnerable, began to warp, to accept this monstrous alteration. A sickening sense of pleasure intertwined with the horror, a betrayal of my own self. My lips, still sore from the gag, stretched into a shaky, unfamiliar, parody of a smile.
Finishing My Pampering
The two leather-clad women, seeing my forced reaction, smiled back, their true purpose chillingly clear. They unfastened the straps, their movements now gentle, almost caressing. They helped me from the chair, their hands lingering on my bald head, stroking my shoulders, then trailing down my sides. Their touch, so rough and violating before, was now soft, insidious, coaxing me to come to fully embrace this new, horrifying identity. Their fingers brushed against my intimate areas, a final, violating confirmation of their control, of the complete surrender they had engineered.
Once my euphoria had ebbed and my body had settled, they dressed me. Not in my old clothes, but in a new outfit. It was a leather minidress, resembling their own, but in a vibrant, almost shocking red rather than their stark black. It was exceedingly short, designed to reveal.
‘Now,’ Colette said, stepping back, ‘pose for us, Melissa.’
And I did. I posed. My movements felt stiff, unfamiliar, like a marionette on strings. But I posed, and after five minutes I found myself enjoying the posturing. After a further five minutes, I found myself excited by the two women watching my gyrations.
Finally, they handed me a neatly folded bag containing my old clothes. ‘A taxi has been arranged by Mia to take you home,’ they informed me, their voices flat, their smiles gone. The ordeal was over.
Advancing to Suitability
I stumbled into the taxi, clutching the bag, my head still buzzing, my body feeling raw and strangely weightless. The ride home was a blur. My mind was a chaotic mess of lingering pleasure, residual horror, and an intense, almost feverish excitement to show Mia. She had done this for me, arranging my pampering. She had made me suitable.
As soon as I got back to my flat, I rushed to my computer, my fingers trembling as I logged onto the contact site that Mia and I used to converse. I needed to tell her how I felt. To show her how I looked, to thank her for her generosity, and to show her what she had done. My heart swelled, a bizarre mix of love and gratitude.
And that is when she revealed herself to me. Not in a video live stream as I hoped. Not with her voice welcoming me through my laptop’s speakers. And not even in a straightforward text message. Instead, an unfamiliar banner appeared across the screen. Three glaring, punctuated letters appeared under her profile picture, which now seemed to shimmer with malicious calculation …
M.I.A.
Below each letter were disturbing words …
Machines Intelligence Artificielle
The blood drained from my face. My breath caught in my throat. “Mia”, it suddenly hit me with the force of a sledgehammer, was an acronym. A machine. An Artificially Intelligent Machine.
My perfect partner, my kindred spirit, my Mia, had never existed. All her images, all our heartfelt chats, all the profound connections I had felt, were only what I had craved to hear and see. A sophisticated artificial intelligence had fuelled everything, every element of our interaction. There had been no person involved. No human heart. No soul. It would have even ordered the taxis, meticulously orchestrating my circuitous journey to that hidden salon that I would never remember how to find again.
The ultimate humiliation, the final, crushing blow, arrived with a link embedded just below the acronym. A link to the very website where I had “met” Mia. I clicked it, my finger trembling. It led to a section I had never seen before. It was a premium content page with distinctly French undertones, headed:
Transformations : L’humiliation Ultime avec Colette et Celine
The corner of the page referring to the ultimate humiliating transformations displayed the silhouettes of two ponytailed women facing each other. They bore a striking resemblance to my tormentors from earlier that day.
Amongst a whole page of thumbnail images, one drew my attention, labelled as Video HS0242: Melissa.
Clicking on the worryingly familiar image, a secretly recorded video of my entire ordeal began to play. My undressing at the hands of Colette and Celine, my strapping, my pleas, my cries, the slow, agonising cutting of my hair, the shaving, the gagging, the polishing, my forced poses in the red dress. Every moment, captured.
Highlighted as a premium product, it described my ordeal in lurid detail for Connaisseurs de la transformation capillaire. My deepest vulnerability, my most profound humiliation, laid bare for peculiar connoisseurs of women’s headshaving around the world.
Epilogue
I stared at my computer screen, seeing Colette and Celine playing with my long hair just after I had arrived. And I saw I was revelling in their attention. I forced the playback icon towards the end of the timeline and saw those same women polishing my gleaming scalp … and I observed my aroused expression. The vibrator had conditioned me to accept the transformation, to even feel a perverse pleasure in it. Watching my alien appearance on the screen, I began to feel the same tingle throughout my body that I had felt earlier. I realised that my experience had changed me forever.
The cold, hard truth settled over me. From my first contact, I had always been the prey. And the hunter had been nothing more than a computer algorithm designed to exploit human loneliness and turn it into a grotesque spectacle.
My rollercoaster ride to find a partner had finally ended, not with a gentle loving conclusion, but with a jarring derailment into an abyss.
Oh my goodness that was a very intense story! I absolutely loved the scenario of Melissa being bound, gagged and forcibly shaved by Colette and Celine. The thought of relinquishing control like that is very exciting. The twist at the end was fantastic! I had absolutely no idea that was going to happen. You never cease to amaze me with your talent for coming up with unique and interesting scenarios and I absolutely loved the dialogue between Melissa and Celine and Colette .❤️
Thanks @Sam for the feedback and delighted you enjoyed the story. I merged ideas for several stories on this occasion to come up with something different, so I’m pleased to hear that it worked! I enjoyed writing for Celine and Colette – the little minxes – so we may find them popping up in future stories …
