Sister’s Revenge
The Revelation
(Scene: The living room. Rahul walks in, looking cheerful, totally unaware of the “brilliant plan” awaiting him. Priya and Mom are sitting, Mom with a mischievous twinkle in her eye, Priya trying to look innocent.)
Mom: Rahul, come here, my boy! Your sister and I were just discussing a wonderful family tradition that’s long overdue for you.
Rahul: (Confused but curious) A tradition? What kind of tradition?
Priya: (Sweetly) Oh, just a very, very old and very, very important one, little brother. It’s all about staying cool in the summer.
Mom: (Beaming) Indeed! We’re talking about the Mottai ritual. A sacred head-shaving, Rahul! It’s been followed by our ancestors for centuries to usher in good fortune and, of course, to combat this scorching heat. It’s a very auspicious occasion.
Rahul: (Eyes widen in horror, he takes a step back) Mottai?! You mean… like, bald?! No way! My hair!
Mom: (Firmly but gently) Now, now, Rahul. It’s not just about being bald. It’s a deep-rooted custom. It symbolizes letting go of the old, embracing new beginnings, and attracting blessings. Plus, think how much cooler you’ll be! It’s for your own good, and it’s for good luck.
Rahul: (Looks desperately at Priya, who just smiles sweetly back) But… but everyone will laugh at me!
Priya: (Shrugs playfully) They’ll be admiring your commitment to tradition, Rahul! And your super cool head.
Mom: It’s a mark of respect for our heritage, son. It’s time. You’ll feel so much lighter afterward.
Rahul: (Seeing no escape, he slumps his shoulders) Fine. But it better bring me good fortune.
Mom: It most certainly will! Now, about the arrangements. Priya, dear, should I call the barber to come home? We can set up everything here.
Priya: (Quickly, with feigned earnestness) Oh, no, Mom! Please, no barber! I… I have a wish. A very strong wish. I want to do it. I want to put the Mottai(headshave) on Rahul myself. It feels… more traditional, somehow. More meaningful, coming from family.
Mom: (Pauses, thoughtfully stroking her chin) You want to do it yourself? That’s… an interesting thought. (She gets up, walks towards an old wooden cupboard, and pulls out a very old, thick, bound book. She flips through its yellowed pages for several minutes, occasionally murmuring to herself. After about thirty minutes, she closes the book with a satisfied thud and returns to them, her eyes gleaming with new information.)
Mom: Ah, I thought so! This ancient text, passed down through generations, outlines the Mottai ritual in exquisite detail. And Priya, your intuition was absolutely correct! It is considered profoundly auspicious for a female to perform the Mottai on a male. Even more so, my children, when it is a sister performing Mottai for her brother, or a wife for her husband. The blessings bestowed are immense!
Rahul: (Gulps, looking from his determined sister to his suddenly very serious mother.)
Mom: However, this sacred act must be performed with the utmost reverence and by strictly adhering to a set of rules. Disobeying them would nullify the blessings. Do you both understand and agree to follow these rules precisely?
Priya & Rahul: (In unison, though Rahul’s voice is a little weaker) Yes, Mom.
Mom: Excellent. Now, listen carefully. Before the actual Mottai begins, Priya, you must carefully remove all of Rahul’s clothes, one by one. This is crucial, as his hair, which is about to be offered, is considered sacred, and not a single strand must fall upon any of his clothing. Once he is unclothed, Rahul, you must kneel before your sister and, with humility, ask her to perform the Mottai (headshave) for you, specifically blessing you for a good wife and good fortune in your life.
(Rahul’s eyes widen again, looking utterly mortified. Priya tries to suppress a triumphant smirk.)
Mom: Then, Priya, you must playfully refuse his request for the Mottai, at least once. After that, Rahul, you must plead with her again, emphasizing that without her performing this ritual, you fear you will not have a good wife or good fortune. You must show your earnestness by bending your head low before her as you plead. Only then, Priya, are you to accept his request.
Mom: Once you’ve accepted, you will make him sit on the floor, in the traditional manner, much like how devotees sit at the Tirupati temple. And then… (Mom pauses, takes a deep breath, and reaches for a glass of water, taking a long, slow sip, leaving Priya and Rahul in suspense.)
Mom: Once you’ve done that, Priya, you will graciously accept. Then, Rahul, you must sit on the floor, in the same posture as devotees do at the Tirupati temple.
Mom: And finally, Priya, this is where your devotion comes in. You must remove all your own clothes, leaving only a small piece of cloth to cover your vaginal region. You will then sit directly in front of him. You will thoroughly wet his hair by sprinkling water on it and massaging his scalp. After that, using a traditional razor, much like those used in temples, you will perform the “Mottai” on him, carefully leaving a kudumi (a small tuft of hair) on his crown.
(Mom takes a deep breath and pauses, reaching for her water glass.)
The Ritual Continues: Detailed Instructions
(Scene: The living room. Mom, Priya, and Rahul are still in conversation. Mom has just taken a sip of water.)
Mom: (Resuming her explanation, her voice unwavering) Now, where were we? Ah, yes. After you’ve begun, Priya, you must bend Rahul’s head close to your lap as you shave. It is vital that all the shorn hair falls directly onto your laps, not onto the ground. Every single strand is sacred.
Once the initial “Mottai” is complete, you’ll need to sprinkle some more water on his head and rub it gently to check your work. This allows you to identify any missed spots. Then, you’ll perform the “Mottai” again, but this time, you must go in the reverse direction. This second pass is crucial; it ensures his “Mottai” is perfectly smooth and absolutely no hair is visible, except for the kudumi. It must shine.
After his “Mottai” is complete and gleaming, Priya, you must carefully pick up every single hair that has fallen onto your laps. Not one strand should be missed. Gather them all and place them in a clean cloth, tying it securely. This bundle of hair holds significance.
Next, you will remove your cloth coverring your vaginal part. You’ll then rub thecloth on his “Mottai” to thoroughly clean and purify his scalp. Once that’s done, you are to raise his hands and have him place them, holding his own “Mottai”.
Then, Priya, you must check his armpits for any hair and shave it clean as well. This completes the purification.
Finally, you will stand up. Rahul, you must then place your “Mottai” directly on your sister’s feet, and in your own words, ask for her blessings for a good wife and fortune, and thank her sincerely for performing the “Mottai”.
Priya, to conclude the ritual, you will bless him by gently touching his “Mottai”. Then, you’ll hold his kudumi and gently pull it, helping him to stand up, signifying the completion of the blessed transformation.
Unexpected Arrivals and a Naughty Revelation (Revised)
(Scene: The living room. Mom has just finished explaining the “Mottai” ritual to Priya and Rahul. Suddenly, the doorbell rings.)
Priya: (With a mischievous glint in her eye, knowing exactly who it is) Oh, that must be my friends! They said they might drop by to see how I’m doing after exams.
(Mom opens the door to reveal four of Priya’s friends – Aisha, Preeti, Sana, and Divya – standing there, all smiling. Rahul instinctively tries to make himself smaller on the couch, suddenly very aware of the situation.)
Mom: (Warmly) Girls! How lovely of you to come! Thank you for visiting.
Aisha: Hi Aunty! We just wanted to check on Priya.
Preeti: Yeah, see if she’s recovered from all that studying!
Mom: (Beaming) Well, you’ve arrived at a most opportune time! In fact, you’ve come just when we need a little help with something very special.
Sana: Oh? What is it, Aunty? We’d be happy to!
Divya: Is it a new recipe? Or some summer cleaning?
Mom: (Her smile widening, she glances at Rahul, who is now practically melting into the cushions. Priya subtly stifles a laugh, a triumphant sparkle in her eyes.) No, nothing quite so mundane! We are about to perform a very ancient and auspicious family ritual for Rahul, his “Mottai.” And for the blessings to be truly complete, the ritual requires a full-body shave.
(Rahul’s head snaps up, eyes wide with terror.)
Mom: Now, Priya, as his sister, will be performing most of it. But, as you can imagine, there are certain… delicate areas that she, as his sister, simply cannot touch. Parts like… well, his penis and his anal region. For the ritual to be truly fulfilled, and for Rahul to receive all the blessings for a good wife and fortune, those parts also need to be completely shaven. And that, my dear girls, is where you come in. You see, the tradition states that close female friends, those who wish the male well, can assist in these specific parts. So, will you help us ensure Rahul gets his full blessings?
(All four of Priya’s friends exchange glances. A slow, knowing smile spreads across each of their faces, turning into a collective, rather naughty grin as they turn their gaze directly onto the mortified Rahul. He instinctively crosses his legs and pulls his knees up to his chest, his face turning a brilliant shade of crimson.)
Aisha: (Giggling) Oh, Aunty! We’d be absolutely delighted to help Rahul receive his blessings!
Preeti: It sounds like a truly unique and important tradition! Of course, we’ll help!
Sana: (Winking at Divya) Anything for Rahul’s good fortune!
Divya: (Grinning broadly) We’ll make sure every single hair is gone for his blessings!
(Rahul looks like he wants the ground to swallow him whole. Priya struggles to keep a straight face, her shoulders shaking with silent laughter. Mom beams, pleased with their acceptance.)
The Sacred Tools and a Reluctant Retreat
(Scene: The living room. Rahul is still beet-red, and Priya’s friends are all giggling, looking at him with mischievous grins. Mom, seemingly oblivious to Rahul’s embarrassment, goes to an adjacent room.)
Mom: (Returning shortly, carrying a small, intricately carved wooden box) Here we are! The sacred tools for the ritual.
(She opens the box. Inside, nestled on a velvet cloth, are two gleaming, temple-style razors and several packets of new blades. The razors look traditional, with wooden handles and a distinct, almost ceremonial feel.)
Mom: (Handing one razor and a packet of blades to Priya) These are for you, my dear. Handle them with care; they’re very special.
Priya: (Taking them, a wicked gleam in her eye that only Rahul catches) Thank you, Mom.
Mom: Now, the back of the house is ideal. More privacy, and the elements will be in our favor for the blessings. I’ll stay here and begin preparing the Pooja for when you all return. The sooner you start, the sooner the blessings can flow!
(Priya nods, a triumphant smile now playing on her lips. Rahul, however, looks like he wants the ground to swallow him whole. He tries to subtly edge away, but his efforts are in vain.)
Aisha: (Grabbing one of Rahul’s arms playfully) Come on, Rahul! Don’t be shy! This is for your good fortune!
Preeti: (Taking his other arm, a wide grin on her face) We’re just here to help with the… delicate parts!
Rahul: (Muttering, trying to pull away) But… but…
Sana: (Joining in, nudging him forward) Think of the good wife, Rahul! You don’t want to mess up your chances now, do you?
Divya: It’ll be over before you know it! And then you’ll be super cool! Literally!
**(Despite his protests and flushed face, Priya’s friends, with lighthearted laughter and playful tugs, expertly drag the mortified Rahul towards the back of the house, leaving Mom to smile serenely and begin her preparations for the Pooja.)
