It was 7 am all the family members were having breakfast.
On the round dining table in their garden the oldest was the mother she was wearing a black Silk night gown over her red night dress, her black hair were properly rolled in medium sized rollers on top of her head and covered in hairnet just as she like to keep them at home, the 2nd member of the family was her oldest daughter she was dressed in trousers and a loose t-shirt her hair were in spiral rollers as she had long hair but likes to keep them bouncy , the 3rd was her middle daughter she was wearing a track suit her curly hair were chocolate brown made in a high ponytail and the last were her youngest twin daughters who had black hair in a long bob but the ends were in rollers to give a soft edge to their bob.
As they were having breakfast .
Mother : Tina dear you have to help me set my hair, I have a big meeting today and can’t be late at any cost. So Sophie please before going to the college help your sisters get ready for school and you two don’t be late or make any excuse to skip school.
Tina: Mom if you want me to help you in styling your hair then please quickly finish the breakfast cause today I also need to reach the office early and I also have to style my hair.
Sophie: you two also finish your food and get ready I’ll be in your room in 15 minutes , I have to get to the cheerleading practice.
Everyone started to leave the table one by one and soon the table was empty with plates and leftover still on the table. Every morning it was the same no one was ever free, always busy in their own world.
At evening the twins returned home with Sophie and asked what they have for lunch, Sophie told them to help them self’s as she had lot to do and went to her room but before closing her bedroom door she told the twins to change and fix their hair. The twins went to change in to their t-shirts and skirts , then they both started to apply rollers and hair spray in their hair to maintain the look. Once they were ready they called their mother on her phone.
Mom: Hello Sweetie, your already back from school?
Cindy(one of the twins): yes mom, we came at home around 2 hours ago but can’t find anything to eat. The fridge is empty and no food.
Mom: Oh! I’m really sorry my darling, I totally forget, Ok don’t worry I’ll try to bring groceries today, So in the meantime why don’t I order you both pizza. How does that sound.
Hearing this both the twins loudly shouted “YAAA PIZZA “ hearing the mother told them to just wait it will be there soon and cut the call. Hearing the girls shouting Sophie came out of her room in an off shoulder loose sweater and black tights with half of her hair in rollers and asked why are they shouting.
After the girls told her that pizza for lunch, Sophie asked her sisters to come to her room and help her with her hair but the girls were excited for pizza that they told her no and started running. After playing around for sometime they heard a door bell rang, So they rushed to the door to get their pizza.
When they opened the door for the pizza man , they froze for a second as it was a girl in mid 20’s carrying a pizza bag on her back, as the twins were looking at the delivery girl Sophie came to the door still half a head of rollers. She saw the delivery girl with her pizza and asked if she wants to make some extra money.
The girl nodded yes and asked how. Sophie told her to come inside.
Sophie: Oh nothing if you will help me finish my hair in rollers I’ll give you 20 bucks.
Pizza girl nodded yes and asked : Where are the rollers.
Sophie told her to put her bag next to the door and go to the kitchen. The twins were already sitting on the table for their lunch but Sophie went in her room and returned with box of blue small rollers and gave it to the pizza girl as she sat to joint her sisters for lunch she told the pizza girl to 1st remove the rollers from her hair and then redo them.
As the sisters enjoyed their lunch the pizza girl started to remove the rollers and re-do the process from the start, Sophie would instruct her how tight they should be and the girl kept working on Sophie hair as instructed. The lunch was soon over and the twins went to their room leaving Sophie in the Kitchen as the pizza girl was still rolling the hair.
When the Pizza girl was almost about to finish , the opening and closing sound of the door was heard and Tina walked into the kitchen, A broad Smile got Tina’s face as she saw a girl doing Sophie’s hair.
Tina: Looks like someone’s enjoying.
Sophie: Oh! No sis I just hired her to do my hair.
Tina: That’s nice can I be next?
Sophie: Yes ofcourse. Why not?
Hearing this Sana (Pizza girl felt bit confused that how can she commit without asking her if she would be able to do it or not, then she just brushed this thought off and kept doing the work and thinking that she can always say no, or don’t have the time or some other excuse.
Soon Sophie hair were properly rolled Sophie made sure if they were properly in place by checking in the camera of her phone and touching, once she was satisfied she got up from the chair and said “ Stay there I’ll be back” and went of the kitchen.
As she left shortly Tina came back with her head wrapped in a towel while carrying a big plastic box and her laptop and sat on the chair where Sophie was sitting, Tina placed a big box on the table snapped her finger and said “Come on get to work” and started to work on her laptop.
Sana kept standing there not saying a word or moving waiting for Sophie to come back. Just as Tina realized that Sana was not moving she turned to Sana with a pissed of face, but then Sophie was heard saying “Here Sis” as she extended her hand and gave Tina a 20 $ and said “ Girl you can get this if my sister is satisfied with your work” and left the kitchen, not giving a chance to Sana to say anything.
Tina just swings the 20$ and say “You heard it, the sooner you get done the sooner you will get paid and if I’m not satisfied then you won’t be paid” then place the 20$ under her laptop and started working, Sana thought that she should just go back to her job but when she checked the time, her shift was already over so now to recover her pay she would need to wind Tina’s hair, with a sigh of surrender Sana asked “ How do you want me to roll them?”
As instructed Sana worked to roll Tina’s hair in spiral rollers and making sure that they were done as Tina wanted, cause of not being a professional hair dresser it took her hour and a half to finally roll Tina’s hair. Finally now Tina was in rollers and satisfied with the girl’s work she told Sana to sit and started asking few questions.
Tina kept asking several questions about Sana from name to where she lives everything was asked but before Tina could ask an important Question the mother arrives and hugged Tina.
Mom: You did a great job today with your.
Tina : Oh I Didn’t She did. (Pointed to Sana sitting on the chair opposite to Tina still wearing her pizza delivery uniform)
Mom: This Pizza girl? You must be joking and why is she still here , Shouldn’t she have left hours ago?
Tina : No mom I’m not joking, She even rolled Sophie. Sophie come here, Sophie (Tina shouted from the kitchen)
Mom: Well if she did it then its a marvellous job. (Mother says as she checks Tina’s hair more closely)
By then Sophie also came to the kitchen and mother checked her hair also.
Mom: Well if she really did that then I would like to get my hair rolled as well. Don’t let her go I’ll be back in 15. (With that mother walked out of the kitchen leaving Tina , Sophie and Sana in the kitchen)
Tina: Well it looks like you have one more set of rollers to put. (Tina looks at Sana with a Smile and continued) Don’t worry if you did a good job this time then another 20 will be added over the 20 you have earned, let’s make a deal if you did a good job on mother then I’ll give you 50 in total as a bonus.
Hearing this Sana felt bit relief that if she would do a good job then she would have an whole day pay in her hand. Hearing this Sana got motivated that no matter what she will do her best.
Soon the mother came to the kitchen in her wearing her black silk nightgown over her short Black silk night dress her head was also wrapped in a towel and she sat on Tina’s chair and said “Let’s see how good you are girl” with that she placed her metal box on the table and sat calmly.
Sana walked to her back and removed the towel from her head and opened the box, as the mother instructed Sana started to roll the hair, making sure that she did the best she could taking her time and not rushing as she really wanted that 50.
Calmly mother kept talking with her daughter about her day and work not hurrying Sana, Even though the hair were shorter comparing to Tina’s but Sana took 2 whole hours to complete her job and finally pinned the last roller and said “ Please check” Mother picked up an hand held mirror and started checking Turing her head side to side to check the back touching each part of her rolled hair, the longer mother took to check the more tension was built in Sana.
Finally mother placed the Mirror on the table and stood up from the chair and said “ A job Well Done, have you had training in a salon or been to a beauty school? “
Hearing this Sana felt really relief and proud on her self.
Sana: No, It’s actually my 1st time ever.
Mom: Well then your a natural, I think we should have someone at our home with this skill don’t you think Tina?
Tina : I was actually about to ask her if she would be willing to come and work for us as a full time maid who would look after our house and us, but at that time you came.
Mom: Well you thought right, So what do you say girl, we can give you a place to sleep, a Salary and food.
Sana thought for seconds but then said “ If you can Allow me to think over it tonight, may I answer it tomorrow?”
Tina and mother both looked and nodded at each other and said “Ok, you can come tomorrow at 8pm, with your luggage if your answer is YES but if it’s no then you can come and collect your 50” Sana nodded her head and said ok but before she could leave Tina said “Do think of your benefits in taking , you will be saving rent , your bus money as well as your food money”
With that Sana went to her house, saying “Goodbye” to both of them as she left the house
