Hanna, Fanni, and Luca were walking down the street when a girl approached them and asked if they wanted to be models for a hairdressing competition. The girls thought that a little variety wouldn’t hurt, so they agreed. The girl escorted them, and each of them was photographed in front of a gray background. Hanna with her platinum blonde hair reaching to her shoulders, Luca with her ash blonde hair to her chest, and Fanni with her dark brown hair reaching to the middle of her back, with light brown ombre highlights.
Afterward, they signed a paper agreeing that the hairdressers could change their hair color and length as they pleased. The paper also revealed that this was an extreme hairstyle competition with 40 hairdressers competing. They were then assigned to their hairdressers.
The room they were taken to was long, with walls separating rows of hairdressing tables. There was a large clock on the wall showing two o’clock, and small cameras were attached to the mirrors above the hairdressing tables.
Luca was introduced to her hairdresser, Laura. After introducing herself, she sat in the chair, took off her glasses, and placed them on the table. Laura draped the salon cape over her, then unraveled Luca’s ponytail. She turned the chair away from the table. Laura mentioned that a reporter would come soon to ask questions. One minute later, the reporter arrived, a man with a large camera, accompanied by a young girl with braided black hair and a microphone in her hand.
– So, what hairstyle are you planning for today’s round?
– Well, I want to create a golden blonde color from my model’s ash-colored hair, and I plan on doing a short bob with gelled-back hair.
– Do you think this hairstyle will get you into the top 10, maybe even the finals?
– Yes, I think so.
Thank you, said the reporter, then left. Meanwhile, the loudspeaker announced that there were 5 minutes left. Laura prepared herself, and then a horn sounded, starting the clock. Laura took a pair of scissors in her hand, gathered Luca’s hair with the other, and cut off a large amount of hair. She then dropped it to the floor. Luca’s hair now reached her shoulders.
Laura quickly mixed a batch of white hair dye, poured it into a tube, put on a rubber glove, and applied the dye from the tube into Luca’s hair, working it in. She wrapped aluminum foil around Luca’s head and left it on for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, she mixed another dye in a bowl, then seated Luca in the shampoo chair, tilting her head back. Laura washed her hair and squeezed out the water. Luca sat back in the chair, and Laura applied the second dye, carefully layering it with a brush. She left it on for 20 minutes, then rinsed it out.
Luca sat back in the chair and looked in the mirror, noticing her hair had turned golden blonde, though still wet, so it appeared a little darker. Laura then pinned up most of the hair, cutting the remaining hair into straight ends, and let the rest down, working with that as well. After drying it, she checked the time and saw there were only 10 minutes left. She took a tube and a large amount of gel from the table, applied it with her hands, and began combing it back with a comb. When she was finished, she wiped the excess gel off Luca’s forehead with a wet tissue. She then removed the salon cape, and Luca put her glasses back on.
Laura turned the chair outward.
– When the judges come, smile beautifully! – she said.
A minute later, the three judges appeared. They examined Luca’s hair from every angle while taking notes.
Fanni was introduced to her hairdresser, Tomi. Fanni sat in the chair, and Tomi pinned her hair to the top of her head with a clip, then draped the salon cape over her. Afterward, he let her hair down. The reporter arrived.
– So, what will you be doing in today’s round?
– Well, I’m going to create platinum blonde from my model’s brown hair and do a cool, edgy buzz cut.
Fanni wasn’t excited about becoming platinum blonde, and even less about getting a buzz cut. Then the horn sounded. Tomi took a rubber band, tightly tied Fanni’s hair at the nape, then took out a pair of scissors and cut off the long ponytail, placing it on the table. Fanni’s hair reached her chin. Tomi then mixed a batch of bleach and applied it to Fanni’s hair. He left it on for 30 minutes, then washed it off. Fanni’s hair turned blonde. He then applied the platinum dye, and after 20 minutes, he washed that off as well. He wrapped a towel around Fanni’s head.
Fanni sat back down, and Tomi took a smaller bag from under the table. He opened it, and inside was a hair clipper with white heads and a razor.
– Now comes the exciting part – said Tomi.
Fanni nervously looked at the hair clipper and closed her eyes. Tomi placed a 4mm clipper head on it and turned it on. Fanni felt her hair being shaved off. After 5 minutes, she could feel that almost no hair was left on her head, but Tomi didn’t stop. He continued cutting with the 1mm head, then corrected with a zero clipper head and swept the cut hair off Fanni’s head. Fanni opened her eyes. It was definitely extreme, but it also accentuated her face. The salon cape was removed, and Fanni turned in the chair. She smiled beautifully at the judges.
Hanna introduced herself to her hairstylist, Vanda, and then sat down in the chair. Vanda put on the hairdresser’s cape and turned the chair outward. At that moment, the reporter appeared and asked:
-“So, what hairstyle are you planning?”
-“I will first do a tone treatment on my model’s platinum blonde hair, then I’ll create an A-line bob, shaved at the back.”
-“Good luck!” – said the reporter, then left.
A few minutes later, the horn sounded, and Vanda quickly mixed a batch of platinum blonde dye. She took a few pieces of aluminum foil and applied the dye. After 25 minutes, she rinsed it off and clipped up half of Hana’s wet hair. Then she took scissors and cut the remaining hair to the desired style. After releasing the rest of the hair, she cut it as well, leaving the hair on the nape 1 cm long, and the front gradually longer, reaching the chin. Then she took a hair clipper, attached a 2-millimeter head, and trimmed the 1 cm long hair at the nape. After finishing, she dried it and then used the straightening iron to create a thick, curly look. She finished with hair spray, then removed the hairdresser’s cape and turned the chair outward. The judges examined the hair.
After the judges reviewed each model’s hair, the three girls met and discussed that Fanni had the hardest time, but the style suited her well. They were then escorted into a room and photographed again against a gray background. During the results announcement, Fanni took second place, Hanna fourth, and Luca sixth. Thus, all of their hairstylists made it to the finals, from the semi-finals to the final round.
