It was a lazy Sunday morning in Chennai. Rajesh was stretched out on the sofa, phone in hand, scrolling through reels. Kavya came from kitchen with two cups of hot filter coffee. She placed one on the table and sat beside him, her loose ponytail slightly messy, a playful smile on her face. “Dei, see this meme… wife beating husband with slipper for not liking her photo,” she chuckled, showing her phone. Rajesh smirked. “Appo you’ll do the same ah if I don’t like your pic?”. “Hey, naan enna loosu? I’ll make you shave your head da,” she laughed. Rajesh sipped his coffee. “If you have guts, shave your own head first.” Kavya raised an eyebrow. “Hey, don’t think only men can do all this da. I’ll do it and show you now itself. I’m not scared da.” “Seri, seri, I know your type. All mouth, no action,” Rajesh teased, leaning back.
That’s it — the spark was lit. The playful teasing turned into a full-on debate about men and women being equal. Kavya, being the firecracker, “Why ah? You people think only men can shave their head? We girls also can. Don’t think we’re scared.” Rajesh calmly replied, “See, equality is good. But some things, nature has made different. If you wanna prove, prove with action, not talk.” “You’re challenging me ah?” Kavya narrowed her eyes. Rajesh slightly smirked “If you dare, we’ll do it now itself. I’ll shave your head clean with razor.” “Done,” she said without hesitation. Rajesh was a little taken aback by how fast she agreed. “Don’t talk later.” “Enna da, I won’t go back. Get the blade ” Kavya said, standing up and removing her ponytail rubber band. Rajesh brought his shaving kit, and Kavya sat down cross-legged.

There was a mix of excitement and nervousness in the room. “Machan, start before I change my mind,” Kavya grinned, Rajesh began by slowly began shaving with the straight razor. With each stroke, the room filled with a strange mix of tension and laughter. Kavya teased him. “Hey careful shave my head da.” Slowly, her scalp became clean and shiny. Rajesh wiped her head with a wet towel and she stood up, looking in the mirror. “Semma look da… appa! My head is shining like full moon!” They both laughed. But before things could settle, Kavya suddenly pointed. “Now your turn. Don’t escape.” Rajesh, always chill, smiled. “Seri pa, no problem.” He sat down and Kavya, now in full josh, She picked up the straight razor, her face lit with playful excitement. Without saying much, she began shaving clean strokes.
Hair fell around him as she carefully dragged the razor. Rajesh stayed calm, occasionally smirking at her teasing comments. Stroke by stroke, in few minutes, she finished his head shave and wiped his head with the same wet towel and both stood up. The playful argument wasn’t over. After the shave, both went out to the balcony to cool down, the afternoon breeze hitting their freshly bald heads. Kavya came and stood beside Rajesh, giving a sly smile. “You know da, if someone puts permanent hair removal paste on your head now, sema comedy it’ll be. You’ll be baby-smooth for months,” she teased, flicking his head with her finger. Rajesh raised an eyebrow and grinned. “Talking big ah? You dare to do it first,” he challenged, leaning back coolly. Kavya laughed. “I’ll do it da… what’s there?” she brought the bottle from inside.
She opened the cap, squeezed out the thick paste onto her palm and without waiting, started applying it on Rajesh’s bald head, rubbing it evenly. “Aha… now let’s see how you escape,” she giggled. Rajesh sat still, smirking. “Super da but finish properly.” Once done, Kavya sat back, looking victorious. Rajesh, with a playful smirk, said, “Now your turn.” Kavya blinked, caught off guard. “Hey… why my turn da? I just said about you only,” she hesitated, though a small grin escaped. Rajesh teased, “Scared ah? Thought you’re bold?” Kavya bit her lip, fake glaring at him. “Okay da… wait,” she said, taking a deep breath. She scooped up the paste and slowly applied it to her own bald scalp, making faces as the cold paste touched her skin. “Now happy ah?” she asked with a mock angry tone.

Rajesh laughed. “Romba azhaga irukke da… my bold queen,” he said, and they both chuckled, sitting back under the night sky, their heads shining in the light. They clicked selfies and laughed but knew people around them wouldn’t take it lightly. And as expected, a week later at a family reception party, heads turned as the bald couple walked in. Relatives whispered, some laughed softly, and a few asked, “Ayyo enna aachu? Sani Peyarchi pooja ah?” But they handled it like pros. Whenever someone joked, they gave it back playfully. When one uncle said, “Rajesh, you lost your crown ah?” Rajesh smiled. “Enna sir, head weight reduced, brain cooling system improved.” When one aunty teased Kavya, she replied, “I’m fashion-forward aunty. You won’t understand.” They didn’t let anyone insult or belittle them.
They backed each other up, made jokes of the situation themselves, and owned it. That night when they came back home, Kavya sat by the bedroom window, looking at the sky. Rajesh came, sat beside her. Her old spark came back. Kavya turned towards Rajesh, eyes sharp. “You know da… that permanent hair removal challenge was your idea only. Why you pushed me into it?” she snapped, her tone half-teasing, half-serious. Rajesh, calm as ever, “Enna da… you started the big talk about boldness, equality, everything. I just matched you,” he said, smirking. Kavya’s face tightened. “This is not about boldness da, it was about respect. You can’t throw dares like that just because you know I’ll take them up,” Rajesh stepped closer “And you can’t keep proving yourself in every stupid thing, Kavya. You need to know where to stop.”

Rajesh added. “And you think I didn’t feel humiliated today? Every uncle, every idiot friend making stupid comments. But I didn’t react. You know why? Because I thought we were in this together.” For a moment, neither spoke. The air felt heavy, the earlier excitement replaced by a serious heat. Kavya’s lips trembled a bit. “So you saying I lost everything?” she asked, voice cracking. Rajesh placed his hand on her smooth scalp, gently. “You didn’t lose Kavya. Neither did I. We just… unlocked new arc of each other… kind of a permanent transformation for us .” After that, Rajesh looked at her — the way her face glowed in the night light, those big expressive eyes, her smile. Without a word, he lifted her in his arms. “Enna da… movie scene ah?” she blushed, her arms around his neck. “Love scene da… real life one,” he replied.
Rajesh carried her to their bedroom, gently placed her on the bed. Kavya slowly began to remove her dress and bra , letting it fall beside the bed. Her skin gleamed softly under the dim light, and Rajesh’s eyes traced every curve. Without breaking eye contact, Kavya’s hands reached to Rajesh’s shirt. One by one, she unfastened them. Rajesh’s muscles tensed and relaxed under her touch, surrendering to the warmth she was giving him. Slowly, she reached for the blanket and draped it over both of them, pulling Rajesh close as their bodies pressed together. They lay down, facing each other, their hands running over each other’s smooth heads, laughing, teasing, sharing kisses . Under the blanket, Rajesh and Kavya came closer, their love deepening as they shared an intimate night together.
