Zoé had straight brown hair that reached below her chest. Occasionally, once a year, she would have a little cut, sometimes at Réka’s. Zoé entered the salon with her brown hair tied in a ponytail. Réka greeted her and led her to the chair. Zoé sat down, and then, as usual, asked about the health cut. Réka replied, “No, please, change it completely. You can cut it as short as you want and dye it however you think it will suit you.”
Zoé asked, “Why did you decide to take such a drastic step?”
Réka answered, “My boyfriend said I’m boring, and he’s right. My hair has always been the same, so please, change it. I trust your taste.”
“Okay, I already have an idea, but it will be pretty short,” Réka said, smiling. Zoé also smiled. Réka put on the hairdressing apron, then took out the hair tie from Zoé’s hair, went to the table, and started mixing the hydrogen peroxide in a bowl while putting on the rubber gloves.
“Okay, first I’ll bleach your hair, then I’ll dye it,” Réka said. Zoé nodded. Réka applied the bleach to Zoé’s hair and worked it in with her hands. Then she took off the gloves and waited for 15 minutes.
After the time passed, Réka rinsed Zoé’s hair, which was now blonde. She then mixed the dye in another bowl, took out the bleach and the aluminum foil, and applied the dye to Zoé’s blonde strands with a brush. She separated them with aluminum foil. They waited for half an hour, then moved to the wash station, where Réka washed out the dye.
Zoé sat down in the chair with wet, burgundy-red hair. “This really feels like me,” Zoé said, admiring her new hair color in the mirror. “So should I definitely cut it? It will be really short, but I guarantee it will suit you,” Réka said.
“Definitely, I trust you,” Zoé replied. “Okay, let’s do it,” Réka said. She took a comb and brushed Zoé’s wet hair, then secured it with a clip on the top of her head, leaving the rest hanging down. She went to the table, took the hair clipper, took out the medium head from the drawer, attached it, and set it to 6 millimeters.
Zoé walked in and turned it on. Réka started trimming the bottom part, and with every movement, long burgundy-red strands fell to the floor. After 10 minutes, she turned off the machine, removed the head, and put on the smaller one, which she set to 1 millimeter. Then she trimmed a 2-centimeter section to 1 millimeter.
She then put the clippers down, opened a drawer, and took out a medium-sized razor. Zoé walked in and showed the shaved part of the 4-centimeter wide area. She then shaved a thin strip down the middle of the 1-millimeter section, which formed a triangle at the back of Zoé’s neck.
She took off the clip, and Zoé’s burgundy red hair cascaded down her back. Réka sprayed Zoé’s half-dried hair with a spray, then took an oil and a comb, starting to cut long strands. Twenty minutes later, the floor around Zoé’s chair looked like a burgundy-red carpet made from the trimmed strands. Zoé’s hair was now about 5 centimeters long.
Réka then took the hairdryer and dried Zoé’s short hair. She finished by styling it with a bit of hair gel, brushing it backward, and using a puff to sweep the hair off Zoé’s shoulders. She removed the apron. Both Zoé and her boyfriend loved the new hairstyle.
Honestly it seems like a real waste of time to do the dye job first when most of the hair is going to get cut off.
Just cut to the desired length and then dye the hair that is left!
Thank you for the critique! I would write this story differently now as well. Over the past 4 years, I have written several hundred pages of haircut stories, and I’ve just started uploading a few, beginning with the older ones, so this story is still a bit rudimentary.
