I just used “it” for brevity, not in an attempt to be coy. I got the feeling that you were like few us agreed with you that there is a problem with poorly written stories, and was trying to say that plenty of us agree with you but was being lazy about spelling out the details. (heck, this post should probably be longer and spell out more details, but it’s nearly 3am, so I’m just going to hope I chose my words better than last time.)

Thanks for the clarification Ginger.

All I really want from this site is that it’s a place people enjoy visiting and contributing to. When we start applying censorship or harsh critiques it can sway the balance away from the enjoyment of expressing ourselves.

As Jenna says, if she doesn’t enjoy visiting the site then, as much as it would be a shame, she shouldn’t visit. However as there’s no imperative to read everything submitted to the site, that’s where I find the criticism hard to understand.

This is a collective of work, some good, some bad. There is an “unwritten” line that, if crossed will get a story taken down and I’ve been the arbiter of that but obviously as the sheer volume of stories has increased I need to ask the community to help flag stuff which is inappropriate.

Perhaps there’s scope for a “premium” version of the site where there are strict rules, guidelines, moderation and authorship is by invite only but this site as it stands is for the masses with all the positives and negatives that brings with it.

I sincerely feel that I owe everyone who visits and contributes to the HSN forum an apology. Over the past month or so, I have allowed a few not so well intentioned contributors to really get to me. And, it wasn’t even personal!

I know that you all will appreciate how much I truly love this site for the same reasons as you do … the opportunity to write haircutting fetish stories, and the opportunity to read other stories by the many talented and imaginative writers on HSN. For that, I thank you all.

At this point, I just need to chill for a minute, and listen to my own words. It is not a perfect world. I let a few select individuals get to me so much, because I care so much. The result being that I responded much more with my emotions, than with rational, good sense and logic. Enough said.

Jenna, I’m really not sure you need to apologize. A lot of us agreed with you!

It’s a fine line to toe — it’s terrible when there’s a flood of five-minute-written stories, but, at the same time, we don’t want to discourage anyone who’s putting in a good faith effort. Without being able to read minds, it can be tough to differentiate between the two (unless, of course, they tell you).

Much as I agree with what has been said recently about not wanting to regulate the number of posts without good reason, I’m sure that you can’t have helped but notice the sheer number of posts by one author over the last couple of weeks. As I am typing this, 15 of the last 21 posts were by the same author – all very short and (in my opinion) poorly written. To my mind, this sort of activity is very detrimental to the site and I think it will discourage authors who spend a great deal of time and effort into writing their stories from posting them, if they are likely to be overlooked in a sea of dross.

I have no idea why can be done about it but once again, maybe a cap on the number of stories within a particular time frame (just a suggestion but maybe two or three posts a week).

I think you are right klaatu. I must admit, I had read most of the stories but not the last one.
