Let’s assume all the AI hype is true. I’m not interested in debating how good it is at writing a story, so let’s give the pro-LLM-generated stories camp the best possible starting position, the AI hype is true, it can write a good hair fetish story. Why would I come to this website when I could simply prompt the chatbot of my choice to create a story more tailored to my own tastes? Why would I spend time browsing to try to find something I’m into when I could just tweak a prompt that worked for me before and get something guaranteed to be of a certain level of quality?

Additionally, the issue is not necessarily that LLM-generated stories are guaranteed to be worse than human-written; I am assuming I have read and enjoyed prose that has used AI without noticing, the models are getting pretty sophisticated, and I have certainly read human-written stories that were poor quality. The issue is that text generation has led to poor quality output on a scale that was previously unprecedented. It is very difficult to use the front page of this site these days.

Does it order alphabetically within a day though? Currently “Anjana Ambadi Hair Play And Haircut Story” is appearing below “The Plump Chap II – Influencing the Tennis Academy” despite coming first alphabetically of the stories posted on the 7th of september.

Even if it is alphabetical, I’m not sure this is entirely desirable behaviour for the front page, but if it’s how it works I guess it’s how it works.

I’m feeling perhaps a little outspoken but I absolutely think they bring the quality and utility of the site down. There is a forum, there are comments sections. Both of these are much more suitable places for announcements or low effort content like matching images to stories. An author’s note at the start or end of a story would be fine too for an announcement. The site promises two things in its name: it is a site about hair, and a site about stories. You should be able to click on a title and reasonably expect there to be a story to read and for it to involve hair. In the same way I don’t think it would be right to allow stories that don’t involve something to do with hair, I don’t think it would be right to allow things that aren’t stories either.

Non-story posts have happened in the past, but I think the novelty factor of so-called AI means it’s happening more often. That’s a different discussion though, and one I think my position is clear on.

Incidentally, I don’t think the post that brought this up is particularly about hair either, it could easily have been posted to a site about anything, yes the characters in the image get their hair cut, but not in the post, you have to go to other actual stories to read about that, there’s very little in the post itself that makes it relevant. Given it’s so depdendent on the context of other stories I would consider it much better suited to the forums or a comments section.

What value is it actually adding to the site staying up? It’s not a story, it’s not a particularly novel idea, and it’s not really saying anything at all. It’s a selection of generic pictures of women created by an image generation algorithm. Anyone could get the same experience by going directly to the ai model themselves, or even just browsing a stock photo website.

Surely the point of a site like this is its niche appeal, the fact that you come here and you know that you’re going to get stories written by people that get it, that you wouldn’t find elsewhere, but lately it’s been feeling like I could replicate half of the site by just going onto chatgpt and saying “write me a story about a woman who shaves her head”. Maybe I’m out of touch with what the people want, but when I log on and see that at least five stories currently on the front page are untagged output from chatgpt, and there’s this non-story sitting right at the top, I look at the drafts I have sitting unfinished and think why bother – it’ll just be pushed off the front page into obscurity by some jpgs that took two minutes of work to generate.

Another user has shown up submitting seven new stories all at once which appear to be ChatGPT outputs. Play around with it for a while and you can tell by the very distinctive way it ends its stories (summing up what the characters have learnt and nearly always forcing a happy ending despite it not making sense). I would really appreciate some sort of official response, officially allowing it (which I personally wouldn’t like), banning unedited chatgpt output, or perhaps a special category or tag at least so people who dislike this content can avoid it.

As far as I’m concerned it’s starting to get irritating – if I wanted to read an AI’s attempts at stories, I can read as many as I like by going to their site and generating them myself. I come here because I want to have a genuine human connection, as weird as that might sound.

The same author has another “story” advertising cbd of some sort. Looks like it was an account that was compromised perhaps since it does also have one legit looking story?

I’ve noticed quite a few stories here and on other sites that seem to be entirely generated using ChatGPT recently. They’re fairly easy to recognise because the description of the actual cut tends to be quite low detail, and the ending usually has some sort of moral.

I don’t really oppose using it as a jumpstarter to get past writers’ block, or to generate ideas that you then expand on, but I’m personally not very interested in seeing the site overrun by low quality Chat GPT stories posted unedited, especially when they’re pushing good authors off the front page.
